DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
Go this in the summer of 2012 and thought it was great - at first. The filters only last about 3 1/2 weeks then the water tastes like an aquarium smells. The filters are outrageously expensive and filters so slow you can boil an egg between filling cycles (it's actually a better egg timer than water filter). I switched back to Brita as it's quicker, tastes the same and when the filters are old it doesn't ruin the taste of the water, at least not any worse than tap water.

one major problem
My filter works well and because I have NYC water the filter lasts for months and months (two people). HOWEVER, in order to fill it up I have to take off the top and pour from a height high enough to force the water into and through the filter. This was Zero's suggestion after spending several months "burping" the filter twice a day. That was their first solution. "Burping" requires disassembling the unit, unscrewing the filter and squeezing it to release any air bubbles getting in the way of the water's descent. Twice a day! If they'd hire me to help engineer the next model I'd design it so that the water has to fall from a great height thereby eliminating the need for disassembly. Either that or redo the filter to work on this planet. This filter would be fine on the moon. Other wise, we love it.

Good Product -- ONE PROBLEM
Love the ZeroWater dispenser and how much it saves us on bottled water.
HOWEVER, the valve leaks and resulted in a fairly large puddle of water in my kitchen. When he actually started to watch, it was dripping about 1 drop about every 3 or 4 seconds until the water level drops to about 2/3.
Will exchange the unit with the hope that it is peculiar to this unit.

zerowater 23-cup dispenser
TDS reading in Davis Ca is over 400! davis water tastes like swimming pool water without filtering. filters from other brands just don't do a complete job as zerowater. so, I bought this filter to my son when he started his college life there two years ago. since the TDS reading is so high, he must change the filter once a month. it's still much cheaper than buying bottle water. i bought another one for myself last month. i prefer the 23-cup dispenser over the pitch because i don't need to pick up the unit each time.
