best scratching post
My cat has two of these scratching posts and she uses them instead of my furniture. Unlike a lot of cheap-looking cat furniture, this product looks nice enough to go in my living room.

Best post ever!!!
I have 2 of these posts. They are quite large and very sturdy and best of all - my 4 cats love these! They never tip so the kitty can get both a good stretch and strong scratch. It's the only post I've ever had any luck with. I even have a 7ft cat condo which is very sturdy but though they play and sleep on it they don't use it for scratching. Highly recommend!
