Disappointed
The only thing good to say about this product is it looks nice!!! We have been through several humidifiers over the years. Thought we really found the one... Shaper Image does have some great products out there. This is definitely not one of them. This was the most expensive humidifier we purchased, thought is was gonna be worth the cost. We brought it home read all the instructions and set it up on our nightstand.Turned it on that night before going to bed. I turned it on high due to having a large room. During the night I noticed some of the mist was going down instead of up in the air. Upon waking up and getting out of bed and stepping down off our bed. Our hole carpet around our nightstand was completely SOAKED!! Plus anything we had on and around our nightstand. Thought we had done something wrong when we set it up so we read and checked everything all over again. Then we did another run and the same thing happened again. So I did some research online (should have done this before purchasing this humidifier) found out this was a horrible product, there was tons of bad reviews... So I'm returning it to the store ASAP!!!

Great idea, poor implementation
Throughout the years, I have owned a number of humidifiers in every price range and brand--this includes the $40 animal-shaped units usually used for kids! This is the first one, however, that I am going to return.
Like several posters, there is a lot of condensation with this humidifier. The steam can not be directed, so it puddles on the exterior of the unit, as well as the furniture below! Just to add to other posters' comments about the power light, while it does not bother me personally, it does create a pretty intense glow and my husband has to cover it with a sock every night.
Anyway, this is going back to the store as soon as possible.

Mandatory Humidifier User
I have been using humidifiers and vaporizers for several years now. Because I am prone to sinus infections, bronchitis and pneumonia my doctor suggested that I use a humidifier AT ALL TIMES, especially during the winter months. So every year (or few years) I'm on the hunt for a new unit, usually because mine got moldy or no longer functioned properly. I have tried everything from inexpensive to fairly pricey models. But after buying this Shaper Image Ultrasonic, I have high hopes that THIS WILL BE MY LAST HUMIDIFIER purchase for some time.
First off, even with its basic controls this humidifier gives off adequate mist without being at maximum output. I'm not sure why other customers experienced water droplets and puddles because the mist expelled is so fine it's 'smoke like'. When I held my hand over the spout, it was barely moist. The fact that it is directed vertically isn't a problem at all. The unit also holds a considerable amount of water. Which means it does not need to be filled often, depending on the frequency of use. What I am most impressed with is how warm the vapors are when using the heat feature. There is a noticeable temperature and moisture change in my room after a few hours. That generally doesn't happen with most dual mist humidifiers because the water is heated NOT boiled like with vaporizers.
I am not sure if this model would work as well in a large, 'open' room, but it's certainly efficient enough any other size, open or closed. As for its lights, they're probably too bright if the humidifier is next to you on a night stand. But if it is on the floor, they aren't bothersome. Turning the front away from you will solve that issue. However, I don't know how bright the lights are on the digital version. Other than that, it's virtually silent during operation and didn't disturb my sleep at all.
All and all, this is an OUTSTANDING humidifier. No mold, mildew or white dust. A great buy.

Satisfactory Unit
We have had this unit running for about two months now and it has performed admirably. No water leaks, puddles or other issues identified by other reviewers. Yes, the green light is bright, and the 'night light' is anything but - it lights the room, but we have the unit in our great room so it would not be a problem at night if we turned the light on. Very silent operation. We get a minimum of 24 hours of operation with two full reservoirs, running at about 50% instead of full-on. The improvement in overall humidity in our home is remarkable. I looked at the reviews for this prior to buying it and they were uniformly good to excellent at the time. Don't know where those reviews went......
