Suitable Choice: The Right Fit for the Right Guy
Most people would have you believe that grooms have it easy on their wedding day. All the groom and groomsmen have to do is go to the tux shop and rent a suit, right? Wrong! Finding a suit that fits the look of your wedding is only part of the equation. You also have to factor in your personal style, time of day and of course body type. Below are some tips on finding a suit or tux that not only looks stylish but most importantly flatters your body type.

The Basics
Get Measured. There’s no other sure way of getting the right fit.
Go for a suit in navy or charcoal - a great choice anytime of year.
In tropical climates, the groom and groomsmen can wear a lighter color suit in either light gray or khaki.
A white or ivory shirt looks polished - and looks crisp in pictures.
Tie patterns should be simple (complicated prints can be distracting).
Shoes should be either brand new or looking super-shiny and polished.
Remember, dark shoes and socks go with dark suits and light shoes and socks go with light suits.

BODY TYPE GUIDELINES
Tall & Thin
Lucky for you, there are many suit styles to choose from. Go for single breasted or double breasted. You’ll also be able to wear some of the newer flat-front pant styles, which only look good if your belly is relatively flat and trim.
If you’re very tall, make sure your jacket arms and trouser legs are long enough. A good tailor will show you where the sleeve and pant leg should hit your body.
Husky or Muscular
To elongate your frame, go for single-breasted suits.
Dark colors are more slimming than light colors.
Consider wearing a vest which conceals, instead of a cummerbund which draw attention to the mid-section.
Make sure your shirt isn’t too tight around the neck.
Short & Slim
Avoid double-breasted suits and instead, go for a two or three-button jacket with a low-button stance to elongate the body.
If you want to make your shoulders look broader, ask your tailor if he thinks a bit of shoulder padding is a good idea.

Short & Broad
Single-breasted jackets are the way to go here as well.
Avoid broad shoulder styles, popular with European fashioned jackets.
Make sure your jacket and pants are not too tight - a little looser and you’ll feel more comfortable while you’re dancing.
