- Wedding Ideas & Advice for the Couple, Wedding Party and Guests
Newly Engaged - Have you set a wedding date?
People are always asking a newly engaged couple, "Have you set the date?"
Chances are pretty good that since you just got engaged, you haven’t gotten this far in your wedding plans. As you are still in that wonderful state of newly engaged bliss, the question may feel like an intrusion. We all know it is necessary to come back to earth and begin to select a "wedding day" and the site of your wedding ceremony and reception.
Organizing a successful wedding day is at times as complex as coordinating a military operation. Planning is crucial, execution is everything.
What is the first step?
As soon as you can, the two of you should sit down and discuss the vision of your wedding day. There are so many options to review and choose from that the process can be overwhelming! With the emergence of bridal sites on the Internet, as well as wedding books, magazines and bridal shows, you can easily be adrift in a sea of information. To succeed, a good sense of humor, careful planning and the right attitude are essential. Prioritize FUN over PERFECTION!

Once you have set the date of your wedding, we suggest that you immediately make the reservations needed for your wedding ceremony and reception. Wise couples will reserve their special reception location before making other plans. These locations can and do get booked up to two (2) years in advance, so don’t delay! Most weddings are held on Saturdays, and because of this your chosen date may be unavailable. It is often much easier to book a reception on a day other than Saturday, and it may be at a lower cost

The Wedding Reception is booked; what’s next?
You can now breathe a sigh of relief; the date and location are set! As the question is again asked, “Have you set the date?”, both of you can proudly answer, "Yes!".
But right around the corner are all the other questions waiting to be asked:
"Did you pick your wedding party?"
"Have you started looking for your wedding dress?"
"What is your color theme?"
"What kind of flowers will you choose?"
"Where are you planning to go for your honeymoon?"
Don’t fret, these questions will each be tackled and answered as you move closer to the big day! Without fail, it’s guaranteed that something unplanned and unexpected will happen. Focus on enjoying your wedding day. There is always the chance that the unexpected may be what you both remember and treasure in the years to come.
