common questions
  shop for highchairs product guide

What are some safety issues I should look out for?

You'll definitely want a highchair with a harness restraint and a wide base for stability. When buying a highchair, run your hands around the tray and chair to inspect for any sharp or rough edges. Also make sure there are no small pieces that baby may remove and that would pose a choking hazard. If there is an underside tray release, check to see that it has a kick-block in place so your baby can't hit it and release the tray by accident.

I need a highchair that will last a few years. What should I look for?

Look for a generously-sized seating area to provide your little one with room to grow. A height-adjustment feature and adjustable footrest will also provide comfort as your child matures. Look for a chair that is well constructed with a wide, stable base, a thick seat cover with heat-sealed seams and a dependable locking system.

When can I start using a highchair?

To start using a chair right away, you can purchase one that has a multiple recline so baby can lie back until able to sit up on their own. If you purchase a chair without the recline feature, you should not start using it until the child is strong enough to sit up and support its head on their own, generally 4 to 6 months of age.

Why is there such a difference in price between highchairs?

Generally, the price is directly related to the amount of features a chair offers. In some cases the price can also be associated with the material of the seat pad or the chair itself.

Which highchair is best for my child?

All the highchairs buybuy BABY offers are safe; the one that is best for your child is the one that fits your lifestyle and your needs. A chair that folds small or is smaller when open may work better in a limited area.

Do I need a highchair that has wheels?

Wheels are not a necessity, but they will make it easier to pull a highchair into and away from the table, or move from one room to another. If a chair with wheels is your choice, always make sure they have a locking device for additional safety.
