Toasters do not require too much care. Emptying the crumb tray once in a while would be a good thing, but all in all, wiping any fingerprints or smudges from the exterior is all it usually needs. And need we remind you that if the toast is stuck, unplug the toaster before trying to pick the toast out, or you could be toast - consider it a little lesson in toaster safety.
While many toaster oven models come with a self-cleaning feature, much like your traditional ovens, they will require a little more maintenance than a standard toaster. Both the interior and exterior will need to be wiped clean, though the self-cleaning models are easier to maintain.
