Flatware
flatware
use and care
  return to product product guide

The good news is that most flatware offered by us can be placed in the dishwasher. The not-so-good news is that certain metals need special care to keep their original beauty.
  • Do not allow flatware to sit unwashed or soak (even in plain water) overnight. This can cause discoloration and pitting (holes or indentations). Preferably, you should wash Sterling silver and silverplate separately from other metals, since the combination will tend to cause a negative reaction.
  • Lemon-type detergents are not recommended for use with any flatware. These detergents have substances which can cause pitting.
  • Polishing stainless steel flatware can be done occasionally with a stainless steel polish for renewing that original luster. As for silverplate and Sterling silver, these flatware types need to be polished in order to remove tarnish build-up that occurs over time.
