There are three different types:- SPOT HEATERS: This will direct the heat exactly where it is needed. A spot heater is an ideal solution for a specific area as opposed to an entire room.
- SPACE/ROOM HEATERS: This heater is ideal for heating an entire space or room, hence the name.
- BATHROOM HEATERS: This heater is a smaller unit equipped with a safety plug for use near water. The current will interrupt if the unit becomes wet.
- CERAMIC HEATERS: This small heater supplies big heat. Its heating element is a ceramic disc that's usually hidden inside the body of the heater, reducing the risk of fire.
features to consider
THERMOSTAT: The vast majority of units operate with a thermostat, allowing the consumer to set the desired temperature. The unit turns on and off to maintain that level. (Without this feature you would need to turn the unit off or on as you feel warmer or cooler.)
CONSTANT FAN SPEED/COMFORT CONTROL: This ensures the heater constantly maintains the desired temperature by dropping the fan speed and lowering the heat. The output is continuous with no on/off cycles. Once the desired temperature is reached, the heater will drop the fan speed and lower heat output. Once the temperature begins to drop, the fan will speed up and heat output will increase. This is also an extremely energy-efficient feature.
AUTO SHUT OFF: The heater will shut off if the machine is accidentally tipped over, or if it overheats. It's a great option if you have pets or young children around.
COOL TOUCH CABINET: The exterior of the heater will stay cool to the touch in order to prevent the risk of accidental burns.
ADJUSTABLE BASE: This feature allows the user to tilt the heater to the desired position. You can curl up in a ball on your couch like a kitten and bask in the warmth.
