Types of Safety Gates
- PERMANENT GATES
Mounted directly into the door frame or wall, permanent or hardware mounted gates are the most secure type of gate. They are the only gates to be used at the top of stairs. Permanent gates that swing in only one direction should be installed to swing away from the stairs for maximum safety.
- PRESSURE MOUNTED GATES
Pressure mounted gates require no hardware to install. The gate can be expanded to the size of the space and pressure holds the gate in place. They are best suited as a separator between two rooms and should not be used in areas to prevent falling, like stairs. These gates are usually adjustable to fit in varying sized places.
Additional features to look for include:
- Walkthrough Gates (like a swinging door) are perfect for busy areas of your home.
- Dual-direction swing openings make passing through the gate easier and offer more flexibility for placement in your home.
- Simple one touch features make going in and out of the gate easy and less of a nuisance.
- Customizable gates can fit either odd shaped areas or very large spaces.
- Yard Gates are completely portable and can create a safe, instant play area for your baby.
