Breast Pumps
Selecting a Breast Pump that will best meet your needs may initially seem overwhelming. Educating yourself about what types of Breast Pumps are available is the first step to help make the decision easier. Although there are many models to choose from, they can all be divided into one of two categories: pumps that are motorized and pumps that aren't.- ELECTRIC/MOTORIZED PUMPS:
Better motorized pumps are generally based on the technology used in hospitals. They will closely mimic how a baby nurses, offer adjustable suction control, and pump quickly. Most will offer a battery back up and a car lighter adapter as optional accessories. In addition, look for models that pump both breasts at the same time, making the process much faster. There are lighter weight, smaller pumps available; something to consider if portability is a concern. These may run on batteries only or offer the convenience of AC power as well. You will appreciate the convenience and versatility of a Motorized Pump instantly, as well as the time it saves you in the process.
- MANUAL PUMPS:
Manual style pumps are much less expensive, and require a good deal of effort since you will need to pump by hand. Ultimately the process will be slower than using a motorized pump. There are manual pumps available that will feel more like baby and have comfortable handles, fulfilling basic pumping needs. They will be smaller in size and will not require batteries or electricity.
