Founded in 1854 as the Waterbury Clock Company, Connecticut–based Timex is a manufacturer of clocks and watches; it is the last remaining watch company in the Naugatuck Valley, a region once known as the "Switzerland of America" due to its large concentration of clock and watch manufacturers. The Timex® brand debuted in 1950 in connection with a line of affordable wristwatches designed to "take a licking and keep on ticking"; today the watch and clock products are manufactured in the Far East and in Switzerland, often based on technology that continues to be developed in the United States and in Germany. The product line includes digital display alarm clocks with extra loud alarms designed to wake even the soundest of sleepers; Bluetooth® wireless clock radios designed to let you stream audio wirelessly from your smartphone, tablet or computer; AM/FM jumbo display dual alarm clock radios and more.
