For the hotter months, there is hole allowing the addition of an umbrella to sit under the shade of (umbrella not included).   The Elwood is made of the wood Shorea, this is a tropical hardwood comparable to Teak. Its high oil content makes it highly resistant to rotting. The heavy density of this beautiful wood allows it the remarkable ability to withstand the effects of wind, rain, sun and snow and also highly resistant to bug infestation. As with all outdoor furniture, following manufacturers' Care Instructions is essential to the longevity and integrity of this beautiful setting. Product Care: If your furniture is to remain outdoors permanently, it is recommended you treat it with an application of a Premium transparent waterproofing wood finish.
