Story Behind the Art:
As the saying goes, what's old is new again. In the case of Chaba Decor, it's never been more true. Using found materials from discarded boats and demolished buildings, they transform old wood into colorfully distinctive decorative pieces for the home. This love of unique handcrafts began for Chaba Decor founder Nikki Pidech when she would travel to Thailand with her parents. There she saw so many talented artisans who were not getting the exposure, or pay, for their skills. With her desire to support local artists coupled with a commitment to reusing and repurposing, a business was born. Today, anywhere from 3-15 makers work out of a shop cluttered with wood pieces. The space is rustic, but stocked with modern tools. Eco-friendly becomes eco-wow.
