At some point, you’ve probably had a fitted sheet that wouldn’t stay in place or lost a flat sheet to the rest of your bedding. Fortunately, properly sized sheets can prevent lots of annoying bedtime problems. Use our bed sheet chart to find the right dimensions and measurements for sheets that fit your bed perfectly.
This chart provides measurements for popular bed sheet sizes in inches and centimeters. Fitted sheet measurements include dimensions for length, width, and pocket depth. The flat sheet measurements include dimensions for length and width. For less conventional mattresses, check out our guide to Best Sheets for Different Mattress Types.
Bed sheet measurements may vary by manufacturer, but these are the most common dimensions.

A fitted sheet is an elastic-lined bed sheet that fits tightly around your mattress. This barrier keeps you comfortable and the mattress clean. Fitted sheets measurements have three dimensions – length, width, and pocket depth.
If you struggle to keep the fitted sheet snuggly on your mattress, the pocket may not be deep enough. This is especially a problem for thick mattresses. Standard pockets range from 14 to 16 inches. If you have a mattress pad, pillow top, or memory foam mattress, pair it with deep pocketed fitted sheets. Get more information from our Deep Pocket Bed Sheets FAQ.
California king beds are less common, but require some special considerations. If you’re buying sheets for this jumbo mattress size, you might want to check out our FAQs About California King Sheets.

Flat sheets are the simple bed sheets that sit between you and the comforter or duvet. While a flat sheet isn’t mandatory, it might make the difference between overheating or feeling chilly. If you need that extra layer to stay cool but covered, a flat sheet is a must.
A flat sheet that fits your mattress should drape over the corners and be easy to tuck between the box spring and mattress. You can get tangled in your sheets if they are too wide, or lose them completely if they are too narrow, so size them carefully.
