It’s almost college Move-in Day! While you may have all the essentials checked off your list (or at least in your cart), here are a few that often fall off the radar. After you’ve covered the basics, add these items to your college checklist.

Dorm rooms often lack storage. Consider investing in a set of bed risers to create extra storage space underneath. Under the bed is the perfect place to keep things out of the way and tucked out of sight. Bed risers with power outlets built into them get extra credit for dual functionality.

A storage ottoman is another multi-use piece that will add both style and convenience to your dorm room. An ottoman is a handy place to sit while putting on shoes, works as an extra seat for visiting friends, and provides a place for storing throw blankets, extra sheets, books, etc.

Invest in bathrobe or a secure towel wrap. If there’s a shared bathroom situation in your dorm, bathrobes and wraps are gotta-haves for hopping out of the shower and back to the room without an awkward towel malfunction.

Whether you need your caffein fix, or just want something hot to drink each morning, a single-serve coffee maker is a no-brainer, especially if coffee is your fuel. And, many single-serve coffee makers aren’t just good for making coffee, you can also use them to make cocoa, cider, and tea.

Coordinating an outfit is a lot easier when you can see it all at once. Get a full head-to-toe view with a full-length mirror. To save space, consider a full-length mirror that hangs over the door.

It's inevitable. Somebody’s going to stub a toe, get a splinter, or suffer a mean headache. Keep a first aid kit handy to help treat of all of your bumps and bruises.

In a shared space, there are going to be times when you need an extra light. So, invest in a clip-on lamp. It gives off more focused lighting and won’t disturb a sleeping roommate. You can attach the lamp to your desk for some extra task lighting, or to your headboard as a reading light.

There will be times when you’ll want to park it at a desk or at the library, but spending long hours in an uncomfy dorm desk chair isn’t always ideal. A lap desk is the perfect solution. Sit in bed or on the sofa and get your studying done in comfort.
