Founded in Italy in 1921 by Giovanni Alessi to produce hand?crafted metal tableware with the help of machines, Alessi has always been known for quality and design. Son Carlo Alessi was trained as an industrial designer and developed the company's the majority of the items produced by the company through the 1940s. The legacy of design and quality continued under subsequent generations and by the 1970s the company was considered a part of the Italian Design Factories, collaborating with notable designers such as Michael Graves to create exquisite and functional works of tabletop art. Today the legacy of design and innovation continue as the company produces metal and plastic small kitchen appliances, tableware, serveware, kitchen utensils and gift ware.
