Founded in 1952, Illinois-based Plano Molding Company is known for the design and manufacture of plastic tackle boxes, stowaways, gun cases and other plastic molded products; the company markets goods to different audiences under several brand names. When People magazine ran a photograph in 1986 depicting Vanna White using a Plano Molding Company plastic tackle box to house her makeup, the concept of storage and organization took on a new dimension; in 1987 the company founded the category of cosmetics organization with the launch of the Caboodles line of cosmetics cases.
