Washed Linen Bedding

When you shop for sheets and bedding, it can be confusing. You have your color preferences, and the measurements for your queen bed, but what fabric do you want for your sheets? Bed Bath & Beyond has it all. Here is a short list of various fibers used for bedding.
  • Synthetic Fibers
Sheets can also be constructed of synthetic fibers like Tencel® lyocell, polyester and blends. Some of these can feel glossy and silky and are created to be antimicrobial. Synthetic fibers can also sometimes feel scratchy to the touch. The synthetic fibers are often mixed with natural cottons, to improve their softness.

  • Natural Fibers
Linen, made from natural flax fibers, is a natural, luxurious choice for your sheets. Linen bedding is naturally antibacterial and breathable. It’s insulating in colder weather and cools when it’s hot outside. Linen is strong, absorbent, and durable. Wamsutta® washed linen is new linen that has been washed with stones during the manufacturing process. Washed linen bedding is softer after this process and has a pleasing broken-in look. Cotton is the most popular sheet fabric. Like linen, it’s natural and breathable. Cotton bedding comes in different grades and different prices. Egyptian cotton is the smoothest and softest. Pima cotton is also soft and has a natural sheen. Check out Wamsutta® Dream Zone® 750-Thread-Count PimaCott® Sheet Set. Bargain priced bedding is often made of Upland cotton, and it’s the most common cotton grown in the world. Flannel is combed cotton, and it is cozy and insulating. Silk is a favorite for some, and it’s easy to see why. Some say that sleeping on a silk pillowcase can be healthy for your skin, even reducing wrinkles. Luxurious silk is naturally resistant to mold, fungus and dust mites.
