Ok so here is the deal, I toiled and read reviews about this blender standing in Bed Bath because I just wasn't sure I wanted a $100 blender. I arrived out of frustration as my last $50 blender broke because it couldn't always handle what I wanted to put in it. My wife and I freeze and store a lot of fruit for smoothies every morning and my old one finally crapped out. It broke where the plastic wheel that turns the blades is. So with my slight mechanical inclination I went looking through every blender they had and they were all made pretty much the same. Except of course for your high end $200-$400 blenders which have more metal components....which lets be honest....unless you are rich, or perhaps want to start a Jamba Juice out of your house you really don't need. Enter the ninja... Now $100 with all the other options on the table was actually a good price. Now the components that turn the blades are made of plastic however, the design allows it to handle massive amounts of frozen fruit like a boss. The blades are VERY sharp, a recommend using a brush to clean them. I read some bad reviews stating the blend wasn't smooth enough....not true, at least not for me. It's just as smooth as almost any smoothie I've had before, store bought or homemade. The blades are on a vertical shaft that pops in easily on the inside and actually gets stabilized by the lid which actually locks it down. I've filled this bad boy up to the line (huge pitcher BTW) with OJ, frozen blueberries, strawberries, chunks of pineapple, and other things and when you turn this thing on it's like an army of Ninja warriors in there slicing and dicing. If you want the smoothest consistency just leave it on for a little longer than normal. I have never used it half way as I'm always making for 2, but I say fill it up and throw it in the fridge! I also made pesto with it and it handled the pine nuts like a champ too. So while I admit I've never used a fancy $400 blender, this thing just rocks. I like the flat buttons as well which helps you keep it cleaner, and I also like that I don't have to unscrew the bottom and wash 3 or 4 pieces, clean the shaft and the pitcher and lid thats it. It also locks nicely on the base too, which keeps it steady while the Ninja's are working away and that 1000 watt motor is spinning. It's been 4 weeks now and I love it, so just buy it and you can thank me later :) Cons--- eh, I wish the pitcher was glass, but not serious

I bought this blender to make protein smoothies that include liquids, protein powder, fruit (fresh and frozen), and veggies of varying textures. While it blends fairly well, it does not pulverize the skin of fruits or the leafier vegetables as much as I would prefer. The staggered blade design and large pitcher left me hopeful, but the end result was not consistent. I opted for the Nutribullet at the same price point and am much happier.

Chops Too Big DaveinSD ·

This is a good blender if you want to chop up a frozen turkey leg or a telephone pole. But it doesn't chop the pieces small enough for a smoothie. I paid $100, and my smoothie was worse than it was from a $40 WalMart special. Big huge chunks that didn't work for me so I returned it.

Works great. Easy to use. Just be sure you know how to set it up. Dot to dot, twist blender onto base.

Works as advertised. Blades are VERY sharp. Has pulverized everything I've put in it so far. The only draw back is the the flip-up pour spout won't close. Be sure to hold it closed if this happens to you.

It's excellent so far. Only had it for a couple of weeks and only made smoothies as of yet. Powerful motor, generous pitcher, and very attractive.

This is a mixed review. I bought the Ninja on-line from Bed, Bath and Beyond. It arrived promptly, but the lid had a melted spot which indicated to me it was either a 2nd or a return. I decided to give it a try anyway and it worked beautifully.......once. I have not been able to get it to operate since then. The power light goes on, but nothing happens. The concept of the blender is wonderful. Three blades certainly handle the food without letting it accumulate in the bottom of the container. It crushed ice and mixed it with the other ingredients (although it was quite noisy). If I can return it, I will replace it with the same thing. I should have sent this one back as soon as I saw the damaged lid. Inspect on-line items immediately and don't let obsessive cleaners throw away the paper work.

I have a nutribullet and was happy when my husband bought me the ninja because of it's larger size. That is the only advantage I have found. It does not make my smoothies as smooth and creamy (I use a lot of frozen fruit) and you can see little chunks of spinach. I keep trying to use it for my family but last time ended up putting it back in the nutribullet (which is breaking) to get it smoother.
