Apple Peeler with Vacuum Base

I'm as big on having proper tools in the kitchen as I am in having the tools when making home repairs and improvements. Also admittedly a gadget and gear freak. I bought this peeler/corer/slicer to support prepping apples for making Chutney and Mostarda. The device worked perfectly! I had no problems or issues with adjusting the peeling depth or on target coring. The latter is usually hit and miss with a corer alone. I also used it to peel, core and slice pears, although if I were to do that again, I would use slightly under ripe pears to making handling easier and results even better. Pros: - Easy to get started and use, minimal need for instruction - Adjustability of peeler depth - 100% success with peeling/coring/slicing - Consistent slicing thickness for even cooking - Suction cup sufficient to keep it rock solid on smooth, non-permeable surface (used mine on granite counter top) - Speed - Price Cons: - Would like to be able to adjust slicing thickness for different needs (seems that might be achievable with different spiral rates on an optional axle) - Haven't used it enough to validate long term durability, but may not be built solidly enough for more industrial needs, like for those inclined to fall harvest processing of bushel after bushel of apples - Expect at some point in the future that I'll need to sharpen the cutting surfaces or buy a new machine to get sharp blades I've seen corer/peeler/slicers in antique fairs and I guess good ideas and designs are durable. In design, this product definitely harkens back to that era - no place to plug it in ... Works as promised for a very modest price point. Seems you can spend an amazing amount of money for a peeler/corer/slicer that may have some advantages in durability, but I could buy a lot of these at the listed price before thinking I should have shelled out several hundred dollars for other alternatives (and most of them don't have adjustable slicing thickness either).
