Atlantic Oskar Adjustable Media Cabinet

CHEAPLY MADE CRAP!! So very disappointed with this product! While putting it together things were so poorly manufactured that holes were not lining up properly. Trying to add screws where required and holes on adjoining pieces didn’t even line-up correctly! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM!! WAY OVERPRICED JUNK!!

I bought 2 of these. I thought it was a mistake when I saw the small box. I thought the pieces would be longer. I put them together side by side. Make sure you have the laminated edges facing in the same direction. Unlaminated edges to the rear. I wouldn't put the cams in first like it says. They can fall out while you are moving the pieces around and get lost. Wait until you're ready to put the pieces together before you install the cams. I used glue on the wooden dowels. It doesn't say that in the instructions but some of the dowels were loose in the holes. The glue helped hold them in and also adds to the strength of the finished piece. Just don't let the glue dry before you get the pieces put together. Glue the pieces as you go, not all at once of course. The shelves are made out of the new, very lightweight particle board they make these days. Not heirloom furniture! But the shelves are sturdy enough to hold my dvds. You will have 6 shelves (including the bottom shelf) if you put nothing but dvds on the shelves (or a mix of dvds and blu-rays). They send you enough pieces to have 8 shelves. I suppose that's if you have nothing but CDs or other small items. If you only have blu-rays then you might can make 7 shelves. I'm not sure. I didn't attach the finished piece to the wall. They seemed stable enough on their own. But if you have kids or pets you might want to attach to the wall. 4 stars instead of 5 just for the use of the cheap particle board. But what can you expect anymore? Wood or plywood would be heavy and expensive.

The "wood" is too soft and splits too easy. There is a warning not to tighten screws too tight, but the wood split before the screw was all the way in the pre-drilled hole. I chose to glue all parts to add some strength to the cabinet. Glue was not mentioned in the instructions. The cabinet is very delicate even after using glue. It does look nice when completed, but I would not buy this item again.

I Bought 2 of these and they were so good that I bought 2 more. Then I later bought 4 more for my basement (I have 9000 DVDs/Blu-rays) These Media Cabinets are easy to assemble and the perfect size. THANKS bb&b
