BaByliss® PRO Ceramic Tools™ 1-Inch Curling Iron

I was going to spend over a hundred dollars on a television shopping program for a more expensive version, but decided to try this Babyliss curling iron instead. I like that this one has a long cord. I like that the cord swivels/toggles so it doesn't get all tangled. And I like the way it heats up quickly and evenly. So why the low rating?? There are three specific reasons: First, the temperature setting is exactly where I grab the curling iron to start curling my hair. So my fingers keep moving the heat control dial. I have to use the cooler setting because of my delicate fine hair. But every time I pick up the iron, the adjustor knob moves to a higher setting. Very dangerous if you don't realize what's happening. The second reason for the low rating is that the barrel is simply ceramic COATED and not actually made of ceramic, it's metal. So the coating will eventually wear off after time. Finally, I have always left my curling irons plugged so I can easily turn them on when I need a quick touch-up. Unfortunately, even after pushing the button to turn off THIS curling iron, a red light constantly remains lit as long as the unit is plugged into an outlet. The manufacturer warns you the light will burn out if you don't unplug the unit each time. What is the sense of having an on/off indicator light if it always stays on? More importantly, the curling iron doesn't totally cool down if you leave it plugged in which could be a potential fire hazard. Bottom line: Low rating due to poor design and the fact that the product could end up being hazardous..
