I prefer dark roast coffees. I've tried nearly every pod in the category. Practically all can be divided into 2 groups: the first is for the coffees that are mainly dark roast in description and marketing, but taste like a medium roast brew with a little more coffee added to the pod. The second group is for the coffees that are truly dark roasted because they simple cook the bean until it's burnt and then brag about how "strong" and revved up it is. Barista Italian Roast is the perfect cup as it is definitely dark roasted and full bodied but not to the point of tasting burnt. I believe the beans are pulled before they scorch...ending up with a perfectly balanced, strong, un-burnt, with the infinitesimal hint of mocha. It's the gold standard that no pod beats. My only worry is that Green Mountain at some point will change the roast/bean/blend/coffee amount in the Pod to squeeze out more profit per pod

I have been buying this coffee exclusively for years after having tried just about every other dark roast k-cup out there. I loved it, and have been loyal to the brand. This month's order came and the cups sounded odd when I pt them in the Keurig carousel... they had a plastic rattle sound inside the k-cup. I thought that was odd, but brewed a cup anyway. It is not the same. It its markedly weaker tasting. Are they putting less coffee in them and filing the space with plastic to make them seem full? So heartbroken that I now have to begin searching for a brand to enjoy. WHY would they change the formula? I can only suppose it's corporate greed.But, if the product is less desirable, how will that help your bottom line when it's purchase rate drops dramatically?

I read the great reviews about this coffee, so I decided to buy it but I'm a little let down by the flavor it's like putting an old cigarette in my mouth and then chewing on sawdust it's not very pleasant, actually it's not pleasant at all

This is one of the only decaf coffees that, to me, doesn't taste like decaf. It is full-bodied and flavorful. It's perfect for those times you want a cup of coffee in the afternoon, but not the caffeine. It's been my favorite for a long time.
