I upgraded to the Beautyrest after having gone through two Sunbeam/Holmes electric blankets in less than 1 year. The 'preheat' feature is great if I forget to turn it on an hour before bedtime. It heats right up and I feel cozy. Then I change over to the heat settings between 5 and 10 which is my comfort zone. I live in Oregon but don't feel the need to turn it up to 20. The only draw back is the electrical cords in the blanket only go the width of your bed so I would suggest getting one size bigger.
I bought this blanket as a Christmas gift for my daughter to use in her cold dorm room. The blanket quit working after 3 months of use. There is a reading of Err when it is plugged in. We have tried it in different outlets and tried unplugging the control from the blanket and reattaching it. The twin size blanket cost almost $70 and should have lasted much longer.

I purchased this blanket in September 2022. The blanket is beautiful and it worked great until it didn’t. January, four months later, one side of the queen blanket stopped working. I read the directions, made sure that none of the wire was tucked under the mattress, and for some reason one side stopped working. I now have to purchase another electric blanket.
Heats in random areas on setting 20. The whole blanket doesn’t heat uniformly. Will have to return.
I've had other electric blankets (mostly BeautyRest) and have always been frustrated and irritated by the way they creep around between a top sheet and comforter. Usually they have to be readjusted for position every day or two. This one stays in place. As with other Beauty Rest blankets, this one works great. This replaces one that is 10 years old - it still works, but it is recommended to not use an electric blanket beyond 10 years.
The blanket has consistently performed as advertised.

We haven't had this a week and controls not working consistently. First night, control 1 stopped working twice. We thought it was not plugged properly (ie lose?) so redid it. Next couple of nights were fine; 4th night, shut off. In the meantime, Control 2 shut off twice on 2nd and 3rd nighst. Kept shutting off throughout the 4th night. Could live with the fact that the fabric's "slippery" texture causes the blanket to shift off to one side (leaving me without a blanket unless I reposition it during the night), but since the controls have not worked consistently and it's been less than a week, unacceptable. Returning.
