Bee & Willow™ Wicker Flatware Caddy in Grey

I purchased 2 dinnerware sets, 2 sets of appetizer/salad plates, and the platter in white 2 weeks ago. They arrived on time and only one dinner plate was broken along the edge. Everything was packed well except for the dinner plates which could have used more packing along the edges. Customer service was quick to respond to the broken dinner plate and since I had a photo, they did not require me to return it. I am waiting for its replacement. Things I love about the set: The size of the dinner plates which actually fit in my cabinet (other plates I've researched are the size of chargers and would not fit my existing upper cabinets), and the appetizer plates are just the right size for a sandwich, small salad, dessert. The mugs are a nice size. I love the style and color of the dinnerware which fits well in our Timberframe home. They are not a true white but more cream/off-white with darker, tiny specks. So far, after 2 weeks, they have held up well. We haven't noticed any marks from utensils that have been mentioned in other reviews though the do make a scraping sound which is a little different from our previous Pfaltzgraff dinnerware but not offensive to us. The pasta bowls have been our favorite and we have used them for dinner salads, pasta dishes, stir fry meals, chili, etc. For us, they are too large for ice cream or soup but maybe great for stews. Things I do not love/ or aren't sure about: The biggest complaint that we have is the size of the "cereal" or "soup" bowls. They are huge! We have measured and they hold a quart of liquid with 1/4 inch after that to the top of the bowl. They also have a flat bottom that can be difficult to scoop the liquid from cereal or soup from. I found myself having to hold and tilt the bowl to be able to scoop soup as the are so very deep. They are really too large for us for individual servings of almost anything. I am looking at purchasing separately the fruit bowls though I feel that the "cereal" bowls should never be called that or included in the dinnerware set. They actually would be best categorized as a small serving bowl for sides such as vegetables. For reference, the cereal bowls actually hold just a bit more liquid than the pasta bowls. NOTE: I do realize that if you look closely at the individual item descriptions online it does say the amount of ounces that each hold but this is not stated in the dinnerware set descriptions. NOTE: I see that others love the size of these bowls so it is definitely a preference. We do not need a 4 cup bowl for our morning cereal and lunch time soup. The dinner, appetizer plates, and pasta bowls have a raised, circular design on them which does hold some food residue and can't be "scraped clean" with a fork. But they wash easily so it does not bother us and I like the look. They have held up well so far in the dishwasher and microwave. The handles on the cups are not that comfortable for me as I have small hands and these handles are quite wide (distance from the cup to the outside of the handle). However, for someone with larger hands they may be quite comfortable. Overall, I'm not sure I would purchase the set again though I do not dislike them enough to send back. I do like the look and the style but the function of some of pieces is not well thought out. If I were to do it again, I would purchase one complete set and then additional plates, appetizer plates, and pasta bowls, and perhaps the mugs. I wish the set had included the appetizer plates and not the cereal bowls. Whether or not I would recommend to a friend - I would describe what I've mentioned and let them make the choice.
