Ok, I have used multiple versions of the Hoover FloorMate for several years now. Finally, my FloorMate Deluxe went down, causing me to trade it in for the only available model, the FloorMate Edge. I was NOT impressed at all. I took that model back to BB&B, and although more expensive, the only other option was the Bissell Crosswave, so I decided to give it a shot. I have about 2000 sq ft of polished travertine stone floors throughout my house. We don't have children, but have three Welsh Corgis that are constantly tracking in dry grass, dirt, and of course all that shedding of hair (I swear we have new dogs behind the couches whenever we clean!). While waiting for BB&B to deliver the ordered Bissell Crosswave, I decided that I wasn't going to touch my floors until this thing arrived. The Crosswave arrived yesterday evening, I assembled it (fairly easy), and put it away in the garage. Today I decided I was going to give the Crosswave a try, and just clean the kitchen floor. I was so amazed of how much better this thing did versus the Hoover FloorMate, that I kept cleaning the rest of the house! The Pro's : 1. Very light and maneuverable - low profile base unit allows to get under couches and chairs. 2. Powerful suction and pick-up (I literally threw a couple of shelled peanuts on the floor and it pulled them right in!). Without even sweeping, it collected all the loose dog hairs, and even bunches (bunnies) under furniture. 3. The scrubbing bristles do an excellent job in comparison to the rotating brushes of the FloorMate. Stuck on grub came up with a few passes and picked up by the vacuum never to be dealt with again (as apposed to getting down on hands and knees to scrape because the FloorMate didn't cut it). 4. Collection of dirt and floor waste - With the Hoover FloorMate, I was able to dump the waste in the toilet and flush it away because it was mostly water and cleaning solution. This isn't the case with the Bissell Crosswave. Because it conserves using your cleaning solution or water, the waste in the collection bin is pretty dense, and I would NOT recommend attempting to flush it down your toilet, or you'll have another mess to clean up! 4. Uses less solution and water - Because of my high polished travertine, I won't use anything other than StoneTech Revitalizer, which costs appx $25 per gallon of pre-mixed solution. With the Hoover FloorMate I always felt as if I was just dumping expensive cleaner down the drain, literally, because it laid down so much solution without cleaning before it was picked up by the vacuum. With the Bissell Crosswave this isn't the case. I used two pints of Revitalizer with the Crosswave compared to a whole gallon with the Floormate. The Con's: 1. Has good width for floor coverage, but too wide to get between the toilet and tub. 2. Although great suction, bristle brush doesn't extend close enough to baseboards. 3. I would like to see either a brush with more bristles, or a brush that has more "positive contact" with the floor to eliminate more than several passes to remove stuck on grime. Conclusion: My floor was so clean, that a Paris Island Marine Drill Instructor would have been proud! I highly recommend others buying and using this product! And to the guy that reported having floor streaks after using the Crosswave, buy a better cleaning solution!
I am a Professional Consumer Scientist and sent back a Crosswave to the company for a replacement because the water jets would not put out cleaning solution. The same problem is occurring with the replacement. Your Research and Development Dept. has not done its job. I am doing their job for them. The certified repair man told me that he sees this cleaner for the same problem over and over. I have investigated the design of the out-put jets and find them too small, poorly located and not easily unclogged. You should take these off the market until I can test a newer design. I have used wet floor cleaners for 35 years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Crosswave did an amazing job on my vinyl kitchen floor. It both vacuumed and washed/cleaned the floor and made the job so much easier to accomplish. Great product! Would highly recommend!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It has cleaned up a remarkeable amount of cat fur out of our velcro like bedroom are rug. Overall it's much more powerful than the cordless vacuum I've been using. This is great on one hand but it's too powerful for our ruggable and tends to create wrinkles between the top layer and detachable pad beneath. We will unfortunately probably have to keep our low suction cordless stick vac to use on particular area rugs throughout the home.I had hoped to eliminate the need for the second vac as we are spacially challenged in our apartment. Also, both of the buttons on the vac say "Hard Floor". Quality check did not appear to notice that the area rug button had not been placed on the vac. I have had to search and screenshot other vacs in order to determine which button was correct for cleaning rugs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The flooring in my whole house (2500 sq ft) is tile. Previously used microfiber scrubber mop which was good as long as you rinsed the scrubber after every 2nd or 3rd pass depending on how dirty floor is. Using the Bissell Crosswave has eliminated that chore and I love that there is a separate container for the dirty water. Easy to clean & reassemble after use. The only negative is that it won't clean very close to baseboards. At least an inch & a half short. Turning it straight on to baseboards helps but not so easy to do down narrow hallways. Overall I love it and if it got closer to edges I would have given it 5 stars. Suggestion - would like to see a roller option that would get into grout lines better, something with more brush.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We added this vacuum to our registry after much research, thinking the size and versatility of this product would suit our needs. We quickly found out that this product should not be advertised as a vacuum. If you are looking for a mop or carpet cleaner, maybe this would be good for you. But every time we try to vacuum our floors, they get wet. The vacuum function is definitely the secondary function of this item. We are also unhappy with the customer service and return policy, as we were not able to return our product.

I have been on the hunt for a good mop for a few years. I always used the swiffer wet mop but I was tired of the physical effort needed to mop plus the floors were left tacky and the chemical smell was too much. I was excited to try the bissell crosswave based on customer reviews and a few personal recommendations. I liked how easy it was to maneuver and that I didn’t have to vacuum prior to mopping. I was impressed at the suction of vacuum component. I also got excited when I saw the dirty water tank and thought to myself, “wow! This is picking up so much dirt!” (See pic). After completing the kitchen I was curious so I got out my old swiffer mop and mopped a small section of the kitchen. In the pic you can see how much dirt the swiffer STILL picked up even after a full mopping with the crosswave. The crosswave came with an extra brush roll. So the following week I did one round of the kitchen, removed the wet brush roll and installed a clean dry one. Then I did round two. Like last time, as a test I got my swiffer mop out and mopped a small section of the kitchen. AGAIN the swiffer pad came out VERY dirty. Slightly less than the week prior but still very dirty. This was after nearly 40 minutes of mopping with the crosswave. I am hoping I can get a return. What a disappointment…
