I have used Black & Decker toaster ovens for many years. This one is no exception to how convenient and useful they are. It is a great size for my needs. I do not think that it is useful to cook an entire meal but to heat up, toast or bake a potato it is great.
This is our third Black & Decker toaster oven. The first two lasted for lots of years, but like all toaster ovens, one element finally died. We decided to try this unit again. I read lots of reviews before purchasing and for the most part, I agree with most of them. Here goes: The good news is, the knobs are easy to turn; the bad news is...easy EXCEPT the timer/toast knob. It's easy to turn to the right, but then you have to turn it back to the left to set how dark you want your toast. Really tough to turn. Seniors beware. The good news is it toasts pretty fast; the bad news is it can be easy to over toast and turn the slice of bread to a charred brick. It takes practice. The good news is the door opens easily and has a great handle; the bad news is when you open the door, the toast rack doesn't slide out like the previous model did. Now you have to reach in and retrieve the toast and risk a burn or use a potholder to grab the rack and pull it out. With the previous two we had, when you opened the door a hook grabbed the rack and slid it out a bit so you could grab your toast and not char your hand. The good news is it comes with a baking tray. The bad news is it's small. There's room to have made it bigger. The good news is it has a crumb tray. The bad news is there's no way to remove it without dumping some of the crumbs back onto the floor of the toaster. No way. Maybe three stars is an over-rated review. But for the price and the quality of things these days (or lack thereof) I guess it's not bad. At least it hasn't caught fire!

Cord is approx.15 inches so will not reach my island plug. After contacting Black & Decker customer service they informed me all their models have been changed to this length. I was trying to replace a 30 yr old toaster and definitely wanted to stay with B&D for the longevity of service. Sad to have to change brands.
I've owned probably five toaster ovens in my lifetime, and I'm sure some of them were B land D, but I've never seen one like this where the stay on feature doesn't work. The knob won't even go that far. You have to use the timer function, totally unacceptable. Also, first pieces of toast there was a fire, and not a small one. This is going back, a total piece of crap. I've seen this Stay On complaint in other reviews. Why don't you FIX IT?
Read reviews before you order this! I liked the small size and it does fit on my counter,but then I read that some peple had toast go up in flames. The timer is hard to use. I hope I can return this sub-standard item. Why is it still sold when the company has known about the problems for a long time?
This was a Christmas gift for our grandson. We picked this one from the list of what he would like, As he will be moving into his own apartment before long.
Great little toaster/oven.. I'm a fan of B&D products, If you keep up on cleaning regularly It will last longer.
I have used Black and Decker toaster ovens for many years. The current one is my third. My complaint with this one is it’s impossible for me to turn the timer knob to the “stay on” position with my hand alone. I have to use jar opener and even then it is a struggle. I also found it is easy to turn the timer to the right but difficult to turn it back to the left. I have yet to learn to keep from burning the toast.
This is a good little toaster oven, with the emphasis on "little". My last few Black & Decker toaster ovens were larger heightwise, but I'm gradually getting used to this little guy. I would recommend it!
I haven’t learned to not burn toast with it.
