I purchased the allure steam iron a month ago, by black and decker it is a great steam iron, selection of temperatures are great and the amount of steam gives you the finish you are looking for.

I have purchased numerous black and decker irons over the years and have always been pleased with the products. However, this iron is good but I have only had it a year and the steam setting suddenly stopped working causing it to be very difficult to iron my scrubs. Highly disappointed
Nice large choice of settings and sprays but it turns itself off too soon, before I finish ironing the garment.
I’ve had this iron for just under a year and it has started malfunctioning. The lcd light flickers or doesn’t turn on at all. The iron behaves as if there is a short in the cord or something. Previously it worked ok. This is my 2nd B&D iron. I got rid of the one I owned before this one because of a very similar issue. Not sure why I gave B & D brand another shot and wasted more of my money.

There is one feature which makes this B&D iron the worst I've owned--the temperature button is positioned so that your hand constantly bumps against it, resulting in the temperature going up (and down!) unexpectedly. There is simply no way to avoid it. I regret this purchase because it makes ironing so frustrating.

After returning 3 irons 3 times in the same week, disappointed was an Understatement. None worked properly… no steam & LCD display in one… no spray in another and after trying 2 more in store, still no LCD display.,.so you don’t know how hot it it. Don’t get me wrong the first one worked for 3 months and was a great iron until it just stopped spraying water. Clearly no quality control at the stores or with Black & Decker.

This is the worst iron I have ever owned. If I could give it zero stars I would. What were they thinking when they put the temperature control on the part of the handle where you have to grip it? Almost every time I guide the iron over the fabric, my hand hits the temperature control and I turn it up (or off) unintentionally, and it beeps. Why do I need an iron that beeps? In addition, the display often shows digital gobbledygook instead of the temperature. And one more thing: the temperature control is one-way, meaning you can only turn the temperature up - if you want to adjust the temperature down, you need to cycle up through all the temperatures and then back to your desired temperature. The design makes no sense at all.

It's not all bad, but it's not all good. As others have said the iron is quite heavy. It also took me a while to realize that the temperature button would very easily be bumped if you held the iron closer to the front. At first, the iron kept turning on and off, and maybe going to a much lower setting (I was ironing on linen, the highest setting). And then I realized if I was careful with hand placement, it wouldn't happen. Unfortunately that gives you much less control of what you are doing and since I use the iron a lot for sewing, both that issue and the weight would make it harder to use for opening seams after sewing and similar needs that require finer control. But at least it steams which my old iron had quit doing. I'll probably have to use the old one and this one. As others have said, also not easy to see in the water compartment and not that easy to get the water in as the top only opens part way. Seems like this wasn't designed by anyone who actually irons. So good and bad. For an inexpensive iron, it will do the trick, I think. Probably should have gotten a different one.
