We like this brewer - looks nice and sleek, brews quickly, and love that it can be programmed to run the next morning. What we don't like is that the brewer drops when the carafe is pulled to pour. The drips were wiped with water from the heating plate daily, however, after only 9 months the heat plate coating began to peel and flake off. Breville was great in honoring the warranty. We are on a second machine now - still with drips. In the grand scheme of things, no brewer is perfect, but I would expect a bit higher quality from Breville.
I'm a VERY DISAPPOINTED customer. I own the precision brewer glass and I totally should have listened to my mom who owns the thermal one and to the reviews I read which stated that if you break the glass carafe it's nearly impossible to get a new one. Ours broke and I've been looking everywhere for a replacement. The Breville page is the only site that lists it as a replacement part but they've been out of stock forever. I would love to buy a replacement thermal one to avoid this from happening again but of course they don't sell the carafe's separately and I have yet to find one, even another brand, that fits so we're stuck with this expensive machine. It's really disappointing because we absolutely loved the coffee machine when we could actually use it. These products are too expensive to not be able to have use to them once a part breaks. I'd definitely recommend buyers to look to other brands that make it easier to replace broken parts.

This is hands down the BEST Auto drip coffee system I've ever tried for brewing coffee! It simply brews the best pot of coffee possible from an automatic unit! The issues have nothing to do with its brewing but have everything to do with supporting elements of the system, most notably the carafe and reservoir; water routinely is trapped under the black band of the carafe both on the inside and outside, after carafe is washed/dried light brown discolored water will drip from bottom of band into the carfe while it's standing idle. The water reservoir always maintains water in the system, over time it develops a mildew/mold type odor emanating from the reservoir, have repeatedly cleaned/flushed with both a vinegar/water and bleach/water solution - it does resolve the problem for a time, but it shortly returns. Given the units only purpose is to brew coffee, it's a shame that it fulfills that purpose so well but suffers from very poorly designed and required supporting features (carafe and reservoir).

Love this machine but just broke my SECOND glass carafe with a tap on the counter! Is it true that the Thermal carafe will not work with this model?

This coffee maker does a nice job of making coffee and looks great on the counter. However, the hot plate doesn't keep the coffee hot for very long. I'm unable to find a control to extend the time the hot plate stays on. I've read the instructions and looked on-line to no avail. In addition, the water volume graduations on the fill tank and pot appear to be identical whereas I would have expected the fill tank would be marked more generously so as to net the actual amount of coffee that flows to the coffee pot (i.e. if you fill the tank to 10 cups, only 9 cups will result).

We live great coffee and have been unable to brew a cup that meets our expectations. In the gold mode we get hot coffee with little flavor. Still experimenting with custom mode but with extended bloom time we get lukewarm coffee. I’d love to talk to someone there who may be able to help. Thanks

We love the machine and the coffee it makes. Having owned several other Breville appliances, we were confident spending the money for this coffee maker. It does not disappoint, with the notable exception that after the two hour window of the pot being brewed, there is no way to turn the warming plate back on to keep the pot warm! As a coffee lover, most would say just make a fresh pot, but that's just a waste! The coffee is still good, why not just use it! I wish we'd gotten the thermal carafe, but I loved the look of the glass. So, I use an external thermos when I don't finish my pot. It could also use a 'beep' to let me know when it shuts off! Other than these two little things, it is a great workhorse that brews quickly, makes a good strong brew, and is a breeze to clean!

Really good coffee maker with lots of options for a quality cup! Only issue is with the warming plate, which started to chip shortly after purchase. This is due to the coffee dripping from the basket. Would expect the coating to be hardier than that. Customer service was great about fixing the problem tho, so very happy about service & warranty! Would recommend :)

Recently replaced my 15 year old Breville Coffee Pot with the NEW Precision Bewer Pot. Boy! WHAT A MISTAKE!! When technology advancements work that's great - in this instance I've had problems with this coffee pot from day 1 (2 days ago). The SELECT KNOB does NOT work; it will rotate and not bring anything up on the screen. I cannot control the pot; the time; nothing. Breville customer service was helpful yesterday - I made coffee; however, afterwards, I could still do NOTHING with the select knob (time, etc). Breville is only responsive Mon - Fri. BUYER BEWARE
