It's just a toaster, right? Well, no. It's just the best toaster ever to occupy our kitchen counter. It makes the most evenly-browned, best-tasting toast faster and more conveniently than any of the dozen-or-so toasters we've had in the past. The "Lift and Look" and illuminated countdown features alone make this well-built machine worth its price.
...I have strong reservations. I bought it because of the good reviews and the die-cast construction which I liked. When I unpacked it and plugged it it for its maiden toasting it just sit there. Nothing! No lights, no noises, no nothing. BB&B immediately ordered me another one and when it arrived I anxiously plugged it in wondering if it would perform better than its dead sibling... Thankfully it did, performing quite well actually. That's better - it's looking like I may have made the right choice after all. Oooops...maybe I spoke too soon. The next morning my wife notified me that the new toaster was blinking its lights, making funny noises, and refused to eject the Toaster Streusel she wanted for breakfast. I quickly pulled the plug and and had to turn the toaster upside down to get the Streusel to drop out. Perhaps this was a novel new ejection technique I hadn't heard about? OK, plugged it back in and it appeared to have gone to be with its sibling in appliance heaven but I had a lower opinion. Later that afternoon I thought I would plug it in and try again before I paid another visit to BB&B. The lights lit, no smoke or sparks so I sacrificed a slice of bread or three to see if it actually worked. It did. Can I trust it or not...can't bring myself to return it as long as it's working? We have been using it now for about a week and so far, so good. This toaster does a very good job when it is working but it will take many more cycles before I can be comfortable with it.

Makes me want to replace the other toasters that I have in my vacation rentals

This is an awesome toaster, a Christmas present in December 2021. We also bought a Breville microwave oven. The toaster worked well and we were very happy with our purchase. In December 2022 the toaster stopped working. The bread was toasted but would not pop up. Every light on the unit was flashing on and off in unison. We unplugged the unit and waited a while before plugging it back in, hoping for a reset. This worked for a while (minutes) before all functions froze and lights started flashing again. Repeated several times with identical results. The manual offered no advice on resetting or re-booting. The toaster came with a one year warranty. It was unclear to us when the warranty stared, day of order, day of shipping, day of receipt, other? Whatever, we were right up against the warranty expiration date. We contacted Breville and customer service was extremely helpful and professional. They sent a replacement toaster and a few days later we returned the non-working unit. In summary this is our experience: Our premium and well-liked toaster malfunctioned during the warranty period. Our experience with a Breville warranty claim was excellent. We now have a new identical toaster and are very happy with it. We were fortunate that our unit malfunctioned a few days before the expiration of the warranty period. We dodged a bullet. If I thought the unit would malfunction in the 10 to 14 month period I would not have bought it. And this is the reason I would not recommend that others purchase this product.

This was a Christmas gift for our daughter who needed a new toaster. We have enjoyed our 4 slice Breville toaster for many years and did not hesitate to purchase a suitable Breville for her. My husband is very fussy about his toaster and after many years of many very bad toasters I am very happy to give Breville the Wilkinson seal of approval. We also own a Breville Grind Control coffee maker and love it too.

Received this as a gift and works great with different breads and bagels. Issue with the toaster is when it is not in use it has a high pitch hum which is very annoying.

Toaster in our house gets used frequently, so looking forward to this one lasting longer than 3 yrs (like the last two Cuisinart toasters I purchased)……This toaster has a nice finish, looks good on the counter. We’re enjoying the features, especially “a little more” button for just that - just a bit more browning. It is nice that you can silence the beep that lets you know the toast is done, but we haven’t done that since it is not an annoying sound and doesn’t go on forever. So far we have been satisfied with this product.
