Aside from the pour mechanics of the carafe as mentioned by others. As for the cleaning of the grind chute I have found that if you clean off the silver disk that closes off the grind chute after every pot you make then you only need to clean out the chute behind it every 8-10 hoppers of beans. It only took me a little over 5 years to figure that one out. But if you just clean it off with a damp towel and get all the grounds off then the maintenance is super easy. Even after 8-10 hoppers of beans the chute between the hopper and basket assembly there is very little grounds that you need to scrape off the sides, top and bottom of the chute.
This machine makes a really good coffee. Unfortunately, you have to commit to being a slave to its maintenance. If you don't thoroughly clean the machine with brush and vacuum every single week, it will clog preventing the beans from flowing through the grinder and leaving you with a pot of coffee scented hot water. A very unpleasant surprise when you use the time to make your pot each morning. This happens WAY too often and typically when you need that cup of coffee the most. An absolute downer. If we can go a month without that happening, that's a good streak. And yes....It happened this morning. An especially harsh bummer on a Saturday morning. But then we clean it and get a great pot and the cycle continues.

Love my Breville grind coffee maker. The older version had the glass carafe with a heating element that kept the coffee warm. The newer version has a metal thermos type carafe that doesn’t pour out the coffee comfortably nor completely. The design of the carafe always leaves some coffee inside the container as it does pour out well.

We purchased this coffee maker about a month or so ago and love it. We make fresh ground coffee everyday and normally for us its just a single cup of coffee. I love the grind control of the grounds, and how easy it is to choose how much we want to brew. We have made several pots when we had guests over and this is where the one small flaw is. It's difficult to get all of the coffee out of the carafe but I do like how it does keep our coffee hot for hours with the carafe. We have talked about purchasing a second one to put into our camper for when it's vacation time.

I am currently on my 2nd Breville Grind Control. My original one was a gift and was damaged in a recent move. I was so upset that I immediately went out and bought another one. I never considered buying another other brand or type of coffeemaker when this happened. This machine makes such a smooth, awesome cup of Joe! I really do love it. I do recommend that you follow the instructions on cleaning it regularly. This will give you the optimal success with this machine.

We bought a coffee maker like this years ago, had a problem near the end of the warrantee and they replaced it.Great customer service. After about 3 years the second one started to leak sometimes. We loved it so much that we purchased the same model again. It's used multiple times a day. We love that we can make single cups, at different strengths and size.

Look, if you expect to get this wonderful machine and not maintain it you got another thing coming (quoting Rob Halford!). However, if you clean it properly after each use, you will have a machine that will last for years to come. I am coming up on three years of ownership and this machine continues to make incredible coffee everyday. The key to having excellent coffee is to first get the best machine. Check! Second, maintain the machine. Check! After each use, simply use a slightly wet paper towel to clean the shoot area free of excess grinds. Then, wash off your catcher. Clean the filter lid after each use with warm soap and water. For maintenance, always desalinate when recommended and clean the grinder area and chute often. I also wash the bean hopper frequently. For all the negative reviews listed here, I challenge folks to maintain this coffee maker daily. Yes, it takes more time but spending less than 5 minutes a day to have an incredible cup of coffee each day is worth it.

Coffee is lukewarm at best. Even from the first cup. I have returned the machine.

I bought this coffee maker over a year ago. I decided not to review immediately because I wanted to make sure it worked over time. It has been great. I love waking up to the fresh ground coffee. And you can use ground when you want to. I also like that I can do a single cup in the afternoon. I have found daily cleaning easy. I wash the pot, filter, little tray each day. I also wipe off the silver plate wheel each day. I have no problems with it not grinding, and have only had to clean the chute 2 times (and we make coffee daily). Getting all the coffee out of the pot is difficult and that is my only issue.

The door for the coffee filter keeps opening by itself especially during the grinding process and gets grinds all over. Poorly designed and needs a fix.
