First of all, I will say that I have had different 4 espresso machines over the past 6 years. I have also had experience at two different bakery/coffee shops as a barista (only saying that because I have high expectations for my home espresso machines... : ) So I'll mention the four I have owned briefly and the quality of those and then explain my excitement about this one! : ) 1. My first machine was a Cuisinart® Programmable EM-200 Espresso Machine. My husband our first year of marriage for Christmas. It worked okay for almost two years. It didn't make the best espresso but it worked for a starter machine. It began making electrical noises and wasn't working quite right. The GREAT thing about Bed, Bath & Beyond is that even after two years of use, they took it back and let me exchange it. 2. My second machine (which I only had for two weeks) was a De'Longhi Pump EC702 Espresso Maker. Do not buy this machine. The machine is mostly plastic. I had to hold it down while putting the portafilter into place. It looks sleek on the website but not worth the money. Although there are a ton of reviews on that one that said they got great shots of espresso out of it, I couldn't get a CONSISTENT pull of espresso from it for the two weeks that I had it. So I returned that one and decided to pay more money and upgrade to my next machine. 3. My third machine (which Bed, Bath, and Beyond sadly no longer sells) was a Gaggia Classic. This is an AWESOME machine. It doesn't look like much but it makes great espresso and it's super heavy duty. Stainless steel. I never had electrical problems or rust problems (like with my first machine). It was a mini version of the large machines I used to serve coffee drinks with at the coffee shops I've worked in. Excellent machine. This is why I was so disappointed when I started having issues with it after having it for three years! I think the pump started to give out which wasn't making very good espresso. After trying tons of tricks to fix it, I gave up and decided to return it. Again...LOVE Bed, Bath & Beyond!! The only problem was they don't sell Gaggia machines anymore... : ( I was planning on just getting another one of those because I loved it so much. So we decided to pay a little more money again and upgrade to this machine. 4. My current machine...this Breville Infuser Espresso Machine. I knew this would be GREAT quality. My family owns several Breville products and they are always A+ quality and work great. I have had my machine for about a week now. It is super heavy duty. It took only three tries to get a double shot of espresso that was AWESOME and had lots of crema on top. My favorite features? It heats up SUPER fast...within seconds. The temp gauge is not a must, but definitely a nice plus. The tamper is magnetic so it can be removed from the machine for use. This machine, unlike my last two, is semi-automatic. Again...not a must but a nice plus. I like being able to program it and get the same amount every time. So far I love this machine just as much as my Gaggia! I hope this helps! Happy Espresso Machine hunting! : )
We ordered the machine in a store and they had it at our door two days later. (The person who placed the order for us was exceptional.) The gauge never worked. The coffee was lukewarm. It did not consistently extract the water to form a dry "puck" of coffee grounds as advertised. The milk steamer did not work correctly. On Thanksgiving morning it blew hot water and coffee grounds out of the spouts more than three feet in both directions. We tried it again with towels to block the spray and it did the same thing again. This machine has the potential to be very dangerous. My first experience making espresso was in a bar in Italy more than 35 years ago and I have used just about every kind of equipment possible to make cappuccini nearly every morning since then, so this is not operator error. I have no doubt that BB&B will will replace the machine, but it is difficult to make up for the frustration and inconvenience.

I bought this machine SIX years ago and have been using it twice a week on average. I expected it to be broken by now but it shows no signs of quitting. The espresso it produces tastes indistinguishable to me from a shot at a 3rd wave chain like BB. The steam wand also works just fine, though it's fidgety to start and stop the flow using the side knob. My grinder is a Breville SGP, haven't messed with anything fancier since the grinder has also refused to die.

I bought this infuser around 12 years ago, expecting I'd be replacing any espresso machine every few years. Well, I use it ~4x/week and it's still working perfectly! Good pressure, consistent pulls, nice crema. Its only weakness is that the steamer takes a while to function, but that's what you get with a single boiler model. If mine breaks tomorrow I'd have no regrets and buy it again.

I just love using this machine. Make sure you get burr grinder that can grind fine enough so you can use the single wall portafilter then you can have fun getting the needle into the espresso zone!

Had ours for almost 5 years now and love it. Pull at least six double shots a day for entire family and it never falters. Hardest working piece of equipment in the kitchen...far better tasting coffees then our previous Ne$pse$$o use to make, and no garbage by products, like the pods, then woud then need to be disposed of or somehow recycled. Just love our Breville Infuser.

Coffee consistently good once machine mastered. Good to be able to adjust shot vol and temp. Steam/hot water switch hard to operate and would be very hard for anyone with arthritic conditions. Find it frustrating how often drip tray needs emptying with the amount of water used to reduce temperature for extractions. Spoilt by double boiler machine (BES900) this replaced.

Learning to brew properly is hard given all the variables: - dose - basket - grind size - tamp pressure - temperature - bloom time - extraction time - extraction pressure - yield The Infuser makes all the extraction-related variables constant for me, making it much easier to learn to dial-in for a perfect cup. I just focus on the beans, dose, grind size, and tamp. I went with the Infuser because I like to manually grind my beans per-dose, and this also enables me to upgrade my grinder and brewer separately.

Nice design and size. It’s very simple to use and makes a great espresso drink. I use it daily to make my morning latte.
