Breville® the Smart Oven® Pizzaiolo in Stainless Steel

We thought we were making great pizza in our regular oven with a pizza steel, but this pizzaiolo looked intriguing. It could get much hotter than our convection oven, and it directly heated the stone under the pizza. Well, guess what was under the Christmas tree this year. We recently tried it out, and it made amazingly good pizza, much better and with less fuss and bother than with our convection oven. We've been making pizza for a while, so we used our usual recipe from the Chez Panisse Pizza Cookbook. That should give you an idea of how long we have been making pizza. This dough contains a bit of rye flour, some olive oil, and some heavy cream along with the pizza flour, yeast, water and salt. It takes about an hour to rise, so it is very convenient. A double recipe, 40 oz of dough, made five roughly 12" pizzas. Based on our experience, if you already have a favorite dough recipe, it will work even better with this pizzaiolo. We tried out the wood fired mode. We figured we might as well go for some serious heat. It cooked a pizza in two minutes. The crust was crusty, chewy and lightly browned. We were worried that our toppings - prosciutto, caramelized onions, asparagus, squash - might burn, but they just cooked properly. The pizzaiolo heated up in fifteen minutes and reheated quickly for pizza after pizza.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect size for our kitchen counter. I like how we can make small pizzas in such a short time and process is pretty simple and easy. The detachable pan is a big plus. We don’t like the metal peel that it came with as it’s a little hard for launching pizzas, so we got ourself a wood peel. Not sure if it’s manufacturer’s problem or it’s just the way it’s designed, the door won’t stay opened (pops right back) unless we hold it. The size of pizza is smaller than we thought. Other than that, pretty good

The ability this oven has to take your pizza and make it taste like it was made in a brick oven is mind-blowing. Everyone loved the pizza. It's delicious. The oven cooks evenly and well. The ability it has to reach higher temperatures than a traditional oven really makes an impact.

The same day I received this, I unpacked it and made a pizza. The difference right away from a store pizza to a this fresh one, was out of this world. My children and I usually always have leftovers from our pizza when ordering out, but this time there was none. In fact, we wanted more. There is many recipes to try this varieties of ways to make pizza and I can't wait to do them all! This machine is amazing and well made. I also must state how nicely it fits.on my counter, which I was worried about the counter space, but it ended fitting great. It's not too big, and not too small and I still have the space. It looks great, works great and makes tasty pizza.
