Chemex® OTTO 2.0 6-Cup Coffee Maker in Black/Silver

The machine is beautiful and it really made my life easier. But, from the start, there were some quirks and design flaws. For instance, the unit's brew head sits so close to the top of the carafe that it is constantly touching the coffee as it blooms in the filter. Raising the brew head even an inch (or half an inch) would have solved this problem. Also, using normal drip-ground coffee often leads to an overflow since the water comes out faster than it can flow through the filter. I worked around this by never making more than 5-cups of coffee. Even with these issues, I would have still given the machine a 4-star review. The real problem is that the unit stopped working after 7 months and the company refuses to honor their 1-year warranty. It will turn on and brew maybe a cup of water before stopping. The red light stays on, but the boiler stops heating the water. I've exchanged a dozen emails with support and they keep sending me the same response: descale and press the reset button. I've descaled monthly since purchase and a dozen more times since contacting support. And, the reset button only helps if the unit cuts off its power which is not the issue. If I let the machine sit for 5-10 mins and turn it back on, it will brew another cup of water. I get it. Stuff breaks. But, it is company that has let me down. Clearly, they should go back to selling glass beakers, paper filters, wooden handles, and string. They are not prepared to support an electronic product. The don't even sell replacement parts!

This automatic Chemex coffee maker has worked perfectly since I bought it. Coffee is just delicious.

Makes great coffee, but you really have to watch your ratio of water to coffee, and use the appropriate filters. The glass stains easily so immediate rinsing is crucial. We love our Chemex, but you just have to be mindful of how you’re using it and taking care of it afterwards.

the water tank doesn't empty completely and is almost impossible to clean as it isn't detachable.

I thought this was extravagant but really wanted the convenience of a coffee maker but did not want to compromise on taste and was really happy with the pour over chemex coffee maker, but just did not want to take the time manually, especially when I wanted to make the larger pot. For the people who say they think it should have a timer at this price, I agree, but solved it with a blue tooth programable plug that works just great!

Glass... clean clear pure coffee taste... no plastic or metallic taste to the coffee. Easy care. Easy to use. No babysitting a teakettle while waiting to pour more water over grounds... otto’s heat and dispense keeps the fresh hot water pouring at just the right timing for that perfect pot of coffee...

The first unit malfunctioned after a month but the replacement has worked without issues. Purchased a stainless steel filter which is reusable.
