I really like this ice cream maker, aside from the fact that it is so loud. reason for the four stars. I thought about returning and buying another brand but for the price I paid I decided to keep it. It's lightweight and easy to use

I purchased this item specifically because it was stated that it does not require the bowl to be frozen first. But after I purchased it, I found that it does require freezing first. I would not have purchased it had I known that.

Perfect size for me being single and lasting a long time. Nice to know what the ingredients are that I'm eating. It makes enough to share if you desire! After churning, i always put in container and place in freezer to get it harder. Not a fan of soft serve.

No ice needed. Nice gimmick. I was hoping it was like a small ice cube maker with real refrigerant. Nope. Just some alcohol solution you freeze before starting. In freezer over 24h as recommended. Just 20m after put in ingredients, it says. Nope. 40m. Nope. 80m. Close. Still going. Doesn’t work. Recommend get one you can just add ice and salt and let churn till done. Preferably just by hand.

Love the looks of this product. Very easy to store and use. Nice to be able to use any time of the year, but will definitely give it a workout when the weather turns warmer.

Normally I don’t write reviews but I’m kind of annoyed right at this product now and just want to warn anyone who thinks this is going to actually make ice cream in anything less than 12 hours. If you’re looking for one of those machines that’ll actually have it done within 35-40 minutes - this is not the machine for you. In the Q&A section someone asked if there was an insulated bowl that needed to be frozen first and the Crux team answered no - well that’s not true. Quite literally in their instructions under first use, it says to freeze the bowl for at least 12 hours (25 for best results). Admittedly I didn’t read the manual - it’s kind of simple for the most part, mix your base and put it in the machine, then the machine freezes it. A manual wasn’t necessarily needed but after 35 minutes I just had warm cream and had to check the instructions. Sure, not reading them first was my fault but I really only bought this because I thought it didn’t need to be frozen first. It’s cute and a good price if you’re okay with waiting that long for it to freeze the bowl, but if you’re having a craving and want a quick small batch, look for a different machine.

I bought this as a present for my child who adores anything sweet. He is loving that he is able to do most of the steps himself. I love that it came with everything you need and stores as compact as it can be.
