This is a great blend of colander and strainer. I especially like the lower profile of height. It does a great job and doesn't shred like the usual mesh. The slightly higher price is well worth it, especially with a coupon.
I’ve had this colander for about a year. The design was exactly what I was looking for and it worked great... until it didn’t. There is a major design flaw in the way the handles are attached to the colander. Instead of welding the handles to the solid rim, they are spot welded onto thin metal with holes in it; very little surface area for the welds. Surprise, one broke off on one side of the handle, then the other side. It’s not very useful with one handle and now I have to buy another one.

Does the job and cleans easily in the dishwasher
I’d had nothing but trouble with other colanders. This one solves all the issues. It drains quickly,. It stores easily and it cleans effortlessly.

This colander has the strength and sturdy feel of a colander, and the excellent drainage of a sieve or strainer. Grains of rice and pieces of spaghetti don't slip through the holes as they do with most colanders. The fact that it's elevated above the surface of the sink, with plenty of room for the water to flow out, means it drains quickly and completely without any backup. Goes in the dishwasher, too - what's not to love?
Works great! We should have bought one sooner.
I bought this after buying the 3 qt colander because I thought it was too small. This is a good size for draining large pots. While it is a good quality colander, it seems easy to dent.
Great product for the money, sturdy, comfortable handles.
