Cuisinart® Belgian Waffle Maker

I used a mainly whole grain thick whole buttermilk recipe on the recommended setting 4. They came out perfect once I had perfected my technique. You can use the measuring cup that comes with the product or 6 ounces from an ordinary measuring cup. If you use their measuring cup you should fill it to the brim which could be messy. The last waffle I made was from a scantly less than their full measuring cup and the waffle was not crisp on both sides, so I would suggest to not under fill it. If you have less than 6 ounces of batter left, you could just put that on a preheated griddle and make a pancake or you can try to fill as much of the waffle iron as you can, possible leaving 1 or 2 quarters of the waffle iron unfilled. It might be better than pouring it through all 4 quarters of the machine in a less than full manner.The next time I use the machine I will use an ordinary measuring cup which will be easier to pour and less messy. When pouring, some of the batter might stick to the bottom of the measuring cup as mine did, so you might want to have a utensil handy to scrape all the batter out of the cup. What I intend to do if I am making several waffles in a row, is use slightly more than 6 ounces until the last one so that leaving a bit of batter in the cup will not be a problem and still fit the waffle iron. Then for the last waffle I will fill to the 6 oz. level and scrape all the batter in. You do not have to worry about over filling. Just pour slowly and spread the batter as directed to fill all spaces and stop pouring when it is filled. It takes 4 minutes to preheat. After pouring in the batter I had to hang around the waffle maker to be sure to turn it over when it is ready. If it has an audible signal, I did not hear it. If you do not remove the waffle promptly, it will get overly crisp and dry out. So I had to watch the light to see when it was ready. I would set a timer for 2 minutes so that you do not have to stand around too long. You are instructed to season it with an unflavored oil after you preheat. If you are making multiple waffles you should not preseason it for each one, just once before making your first waffle. Since I was serving to several people, I kept the waffles in a 200 degree oven until they were all ready. This worked well.
