This is my 3rd (over 15 years) machine. I think people would like this machine if they did a bit of research & read the specifications*prior* to purchase. Regarding bad smells & tastes of plastic, I've never experience this & feel badly for those who purchased dud machines. BB&B will replace them no questions asked. However, descaling with vinegar prior to first use ? Nowhere in the instructions does it advise to run vinegar thru the machine until it's time to descale. Why would you do that --there is nothing to descale. Yes, run hot water thru it 2x's to remove dust from packaging. And K-Cup use ? Where in the specs does it mention the ability to use K-Cups which had not been invented at time of manufacture ? This machine makes straight up coffee and hot water, so it functions as intended. I use the hot water feature to make Starbucks Via Latte's (sugar w/a dab of coffee# or some other brand of instant coffee or instant oatmeal or for tea. My biggest #only?) complaint wold be that if you want to make more than 10 cups and use the permanant, gold filter instead of a paper filter, the grounds will be overwhelmed by water which fills faster than can be absorbed and you'll find grounds in the caraff and most likely at the bottom of your mug. I don't use the gold filter when brewing large pots of coffee. I've also found the Pause&Brew function to be a bit tricky & it depends upon how you remove and return the carafe while the coffee is still brewing. Be aware of how you are removing the pot, do it slowly and be sure you are not pulling at an angle or you may end up with spilled coffee, from above, into the hot plate. I've done it when I'm not paying attention and it makes a mess. But it's not the machine at fault, it's me. Today I'm visiting the site because, yet again, I'm researching smaller, single- serve coffee makers to see if anything has come to market which people like. Apparently, the Cuisinart, single-serve maker is the most highly reviewed, tho costing twice that of the Keurig 250, it's outlasted all other Keurig's by 5-10 years. Which is why I trust Cuisinart.
1. Most important flaw in this is the hot water side. The water comes out smelling and tasting like melted plastic. I've tried everything. EVERYTHING. I've run water through a hundred times. Cleaned it. Etc etc etc. It just smells and tastes gross. 2. Most people have their coffee makers on a counter, often towards the back and near the wall. Well if this is where you have space for it then get used to spilling water everywhere when you fill it up because the water reservoir is located just in the wrong spot so that you spill water everywhere. You basically need to come from behind to properly fill this thing. It's extremely annoying. 3. The lid of the carafe is pretty leaky. All in all, ownership of this miserable machine has just been a frustrating experience. DO NOT BUY.

Love the capability to make a cup of tea or hot chocolate while brewing my husband’s coffee at the same time!

Absolutely Love this Coffee Maker- It Makes Coffee and Hot water too (for my Hot Choc. or Tea or cup of soup)on opposite side and at the Same time if needed. This is the 3rd One I have owned ..... My previous one (#2) Lasted 6 years. ! Its Dependable and Brews my Coffee just like I prefer it Everyday !!

Why does Cuisinart insist on the loud beep at the end of the brew cycle? I thought for sure you could have at least an option to have it beep or not. This is absolutely obnoxious and there isn’t anything you can do to turn it off. Might be last purchase of a Cuisinart product. It looks like this has been a “con” of this machine for years and Cuisinart refuses to remedy.

I purchased this as a gift to myself and boy was I disappointed. When I put the water in both sides, the water came out the bottom. Big disappointment!

We love this coffee maker with hot water system. We both get our coffee then we can make various hot teas throughout the day.

Brews fine but looks really cheep. The two top covers, one for coffee and the other for water, do not line up, or sit at the same level when closed. Coffee side kind of warps. Thought mine was damaged but if you look closely, same problem with other sellers, (ebay for example). Disappointing purchase.
