My old Balck & Decker hand mixer died after 10 years. I read lot of reviews before purchasing Cuisinart and found out about smooth start which is very important. Oppsite to Black and Decker, this one starts with a low speed which prevents splattering. For making almost any goodies and sweets, you need to beat softened butter and sugar or powdered sugar first. This one is excellent since doesn't splatter at all. The motor is powerful. The body is heavy and sturdy. Just the beaters seem thin and weak compared to the mixer body. They claim you can even mix heavy ingredients which I am not sure about it due to thin beaters and I don't care either. I just need it for beating siftened butter nad sugar, also for egg whites which this one does the perfect job. No matter if a recipe instruction tells you to mix the dough with a mixer or not, I wouldn't do that. The best and perfect cookies, cakes and muffins turn out when you blend flour or flurs mixture into the butter, sugar and egg mixture with a big spoon or sometimes your hands! You need a hand mixer for just the begining of making you sweets which is mixing butter and sugar. Anyway, I am totally satisfied with my purchase and so happy that it doesn't splatter sugar all over my counter!
Upon reading previous reviews, I expected this Cuisinart Power Advantage hand mixer to be much more quiet, and (for lack of a better term) less vigorous on slower speeds than it turned out to be. So far the unit is working well, and I'm hoping it has a longer life span than my previous KitchenAid hand mixer.

Nice mixer, but don’t like the digital speed. It’s slower and close to the power button, so I think it was better having the manual speed button. Cuisinart is the best mixer I have ever used!

Love my 7 speed mixture. I lost the beaters for my last one, it was so old I couldn't replace them. Bought the same mixer again I knew it to be very reliable.

Since I had used my stand mixer always, I didn’t have any experience with an electric hand mixer until I bought this. I had to make a cake and then an ermine frosting for the first time. After a few splatters, I finally got the hang of it and everything came out great! I love it and can’t wait to make my next holiday dessert with it! Highly recommend!

I like the beaters with no center post. The mixer is easy to maneuver and is light enough that my arms don't get tired. It plowed through some dense cookie dough easily. When I switch it on, it takes a second to respond, but I've gotten used to this just fine. I really like that when it starts it starts slowly (unlike my old mixer that had only two speeds, no matter what I selected - fast and what a mess). I also like the swivel cord. So far, I'm totally satisfied.
