It is great for sorbets but not quite as good for frozen yogurts. Either don't use or modify the recipes that come with the machine. Go on-line and find lighter recipes that bring out the flavor of the main flavor ingredient. Keeping the tub in the freezer for extended lengths of time means you need to shorten the mixing time or the finished product will adhere to the sides and be hard to get off. Only use plastic implements to remove the finished product or it scratches up the tub.
I bought this ice cream maker after much research. I've made 4 batches of ice cream and only one turned out well. Most of them have been icy in texture and not creamy. The only one that turned out as I would expect had some vodka in it so that may have cut down on the iciness. I have had the insert in my freezer taking up valuable freezer real estate just in case I decide to make ice cream at the spur of the moment. I have followed the manufacturer's instructions to the letter. I have made up my mind to go back to my old electric ice cream maker that uses ice and rock salt. It's a hassle but the ice cream always turns out nice and creamy. I called customer service about my Cuisinart and they said that they would replace the insert (they determined that it was a problem with the insert) but that I would have to pay the shipping to ship my insert back to them. This thing is pretty heavy so the postage is going to be too pricey. I asked for a supervisor to contact me because the ice cream maker is no more than 6 months old. So far no one has called me. Very disappointing response from a very expensive product. I guess they don't stand by their product like I thought they should. I will NEVER buy another Cuisinart product.

So easy to use. Makes delicious ice cream. Looking forward to the next flavor I choose.

This is my 2nd Cuisinart ice cream maker. This one although only makes 1 flavor verses the double barrel I had before is better. Barrel is larger. It’s sleek and operates smoothly. Is just as advertised.

I was a little hesitant about buying this because it doesn't have a compressor, but it is awesome! I keep the cylinder in the freezer in a large plastic bag to keep it clean, then just take it out when I want to just it. It is VERY cold & stays that way long after the ice cream is made. Most recipes suggest using the ice cream maker for 25 minutes to complete the ice cream making process. It has consistently taken less time than that to ffreeze the ice cream. On caveat, it cannot process a full recipe. The ice cream expands as it freezes & ends up spilling over into the base if you try to freeze the whole recipe at once. One huge bonus caused by this is that a smaller amount of ice cream mix freezes faster & you get your ice cream faster. You can enjoy your ice cream while the second half of the recipe churns. The frozen canister stays plenty cold to complete the second batch of ice cream. I just scoop the remainder of the first half recipe into a storage container, and then proceed with the second half. It's great and I've used the ice cream maker many, many times. I just love it!
Just used it yesterday and was extremely pleased. Very quiet and only took 25 minutes to make the ice cream. I highly recommend this machine.

I did a lot of research on which ice cream maker to purchase and it always seemed to have mixed reviews. I am rather happy with this ice cream maker. We have made ice cream several times now and they have always come out great. Just make sure you have the bowl in the freezer for two days in advance.
