We received this as a wedding gift and was afraid to use it because of the reviews. After some research it seems we needed to oil it down with food grade mineral oil. We still don’t use it as it is just for decorative purposes but it puts a nice shine on it.
I absolutely LOVE the style of this butcher board. However, the quality of the board is not good. Within two uses the board has warped and cracked. HIGHLY disappointed especially considering the price. We have been cautious with how we use/ wash the butcher block. Disappointed we cannot return as it was a gift and we do not have the receipt.

Bad quality— cracked down the middle the first time we used it after wiping with a damp cloth.
We've got several of these cutting boards although this is the first one I've had personalized. The wood is not smooth, even after applying the recommended treatment it is not a nice surface and the personalization does not show up well.
It is a large cutting board and fits perfectly on our counter. Being able to personalize it is also wonderful, and it will also make a perfect gift for family and friends.
While I certainly needed a large butcher's block for pure utility, I was happy to see this item for a solid price and it is quite an eye catching piece! I keep it standing on its side by my backstop so that it is highly visible and still easy to reach when I need to use it. I get compliments on this thing all the time. And of course it still does the job it was built to do quite well. The only downside is that I find myself avoiding chopping on it to preserve the appearance.
I purchased my cutting board a couple of years ago. After I had ordered it, I read the reviews and thought, oh no, I should have read the reviews first. But, what I learned from the other reviews is that you need to use the cutting board oils. When I got my cutting board,I treated it with a oil cream and an oil for cutting boards. I treat it once a month. It's still beautiful! I haven't had any cracks or any problems with it. I highly recommend it, you just need to take care of it.
Don't waste your money or someone else's- buy something else!
I bought this board as a Christmas present and it was a huge disappointment. It was for my sister and she used it for the first time tonight and it cracked in multiple places. It's beautiful but the quality is HORRIBLE! It started to crack and bow after being gently washed with warm water and a little dish soap. If you want to purchase it just for looks then go for it. As for using it for what it's intended, I wouldn't recommend it.
Just bought last month and used for the first time, It cracked and warped right away. I oil and take care like what it suggested. I am going to return it.
