I have been looking for smaller glasses for a quick sip of water and juice on weekends. Not only are they the perfect size but the lasered glass gives them a gorgeous, hefty and elegant feel.
About 6 years ago I bought a couple sets of these glasses, which were then made in Slovakia. They were very attractive. Since then, a number of them got broken, so I was pleased to see what I thought was the same thing available on Bed Bath and Beyond. I bought two sets in April 2014. What I received is a crudely made substitute from China. The bottoms are about a 1/4 inch thinner. The sides are thicker and cloudier. I have decided to keep them simply because they fill in some missing originals, but I will not repeat the mistake. The description says "Dublin crystal defines time-honored craftsmanship..." - not if the fine print on the "Shannon" sticker says "China".

We entertain a great deal, but I didn't want to store multiple sets of different patterns of glassware. I have owned and used this glassware as my everyday glassware as well as for entertaining for over 20 years now. I have 24 of each: Highballs, DOF, footed water goblets; and 36 wine glasses. They set a beautiful table and are durable. In addition, there are many matching serving pieces that you can purchase.
I own a lot of glasses from Luigi Bormioli and none of them fog up constantly in the dishwasher ever these can be scrubbed clean even hand washing and in seconds they have a film on the glass. Whether I hand or dishwash it is the same. None of the Luigi Bormioli fog up at all and they are much older than the Godinger Dublin Highball. Will probably last longer but who cares when I am throwing them out before they break. Rather have a good glass break and have to throw it out than one that is newer and just has a nasty film on it using the same water I use on all my Luigi Bormioli which are older.
Great set of glasses, they look terrific
