Wish we didn't even need this, as our Roku and other streamers are a little more broad, but we use YouTube TV, and Chromecast is the only elephant in the room. We had an *old* Chromecast which worked, but this is far better. Picture quality and speed are both better. If you want or need to cast from a phone or computer, this is a great device.
Set-up was a little tricky. You need a strong WiFi signal. So it’s cool to be able “cast” compatible apps like Netflix and YouTube from your phone or computer to the TV. However, if you think this allows you to cut ties with the cable provider, think carefully about the decision. $11/mo to Netflix, $9/mo to Hulu, $4 to rent a movie from the iTunes Store...by the time you add all this up, you’re paying as much as a cable bill. No streaming app offers any free content worth mentioning. Even Public Television’s app requires you to become a member to see much of the content, so just think about what you’re spending. One cool feature is that with a Google Photos account, your personal photos display on the TV while you’re deciding what watch. I recommend this, but be sure you know what it does and doesn’t do.

I had no idea what this device could do, but my computer tech advised me to purchase one! So incredibly simple to set up and use! Haven't left my bedroom in days, now that I can catch up on all my favorite shows and downloadable movies!
