I bought each of my kids one of these thermostats, because we have one and we were very impressed with them. They can be operated by people, smartphone, and even the Amazon Echo. Easy to read and operate. This thermostat 'learns' what temperature you prefer at certain times and adjusts accordingly. Installation was easy. They have an incredible support staff if you have a problem. And, they are willing to stay with you until the installation is complete, up and running. I have to say, I was extremely impressed. When we bought ours, we thought our furnace had broken down. It turned out to be our thermostat. The tech helped my husband with all the wiring questions and we were back in business with the furnace working perfectly-in no time. Many power companies offer a rebate...so check with yours. For us, it was a smart purchase!
I've had a Nest 3rd generation for about 18 months. Early, during that time, I decided to take it off of auto-schedule because it created some bizarre schedules on it's own. The end result of this was that it was no smarter than a $60-$90 smart thermostat, it just cost more. After 18 months it decided that it would not follow it's schedule. It would go into Econ mode, during the week when I left for work, and would not come out of that mode until it detected motion inside the house. The programming was for it to cool or heat 30 minutes before I got home. I had 6 phone calls with Nest support. The first 3 were with level 1 support. The latter 3 with level 2 support. The first 3 were about an hour each. The second 3 were about 2 hours each. I was given homework of resetting, reprogramming, and rebooting. Then Nest sent me a replacement and I was tasked with removing the old one, and removing it from the account, and replacing, setup, and reprogramming, as well as mailing the old one back to Nest. I have about 12-13 hours investing in troubleshooting this labor saving device. I've asked Nest for either a fix or refund, and they cut contact with me, on Case number 03923464.

Twice I have had to have a HAVC person out to fix this nest. This is the Last time I am having it taken out when you turn it to cool and your house heats to 81and you have it set on 72,there is something wrong, more then once.... It time for it to go... I will never own another one and told the air guy he can have this one as a bonus......

We bought our google nest thermostat last May and have enjoyed using it, but recently started having issues with our HVAC unit blowing hot air when set on AC. We called the repairman to come fix it and it turned out to be the thermostat was broken. They told us it was specifically the O wire that was not working and that nest thermostats are not ideal for heat pump systems. I never found anything about that compatibility issue when researching the nest, so I was surprised to hear that was the issue and that the whole thing was broken.

It’s taking time to pickup on the basics of how this thermostat works. It basically remembers what your Temperature is set at over a period of days. Work in Progress. The App is great. I can raise and lower the Temp while I’m away

It doesn't show the current inside temp . I want to know what my current inside temp is and that is no longer available. Unhappy about this

The small number near the edge of the screen is the Current Temperature measured by your thermostat’s sensors. If you cannot see any small number on the edge of your thermostat, it means that your target temperature has been reached. I like my thermostat. I do wish instructions were alittle easier to understand but overall I still give it 5 star!
