I was very impressed with the quality and appearance of this trash can. It is fully ceramic with a glossy, darker gray glaze on the interior, and a lighter gray flat finish on the exterior. Overall, it has a very elegant, minimalist appearance and a very impressive weight which give an impression of quality. The color of the trash can shown in the pictures was very accurate. Being ceramic, there is the obvious concern over it possibly being dropped or tipping over, however it flares out at the base to provide what feels to be plenty of stability against tipping. My sole negative about this trash can is a concern about the exterior finish -- and the reason I took away one star. There were several spots from rubbing against something (presumably during shipping) that were visible (visible in the pictures). I have twice rubbed the spots with a wet rag, and although they have reduced in visibility, they are still there. Additionally, there is a faint vertical seam visible on the finish giving away that this pottery piece is press-formed, not hand-thrown. It may just be this specific piece that has this flaw, but a bit more attention to sanding the seam would have made the seam fully disappear. I received this item at no cost in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
