This is a beautiful knife set with great feel and balance. I was a little disappointed when it arrived and the stainless steel block had a few blemishes. Then, when I put the knives in their respective spots the serrated utility knife has a lot of wiggle room in its slot causing it to look like it’s drooping down while the prep knife seats so snugly that it causes it to raise up the handle. The overall aesthetic effect is that these two knives are the only two not aligned in the block which is not visually pleasing to me. I know this is picky, but these are J.A. Henckles and I expected perfection in every aspect. That being said, they are great to use.

Set arrived quickly and without damage to the box. After opening, I started to put the knives in there respective slots. I noticed one was blocked. It was a chunk of wood that split from when they screwed on the faceplate to the block. Overall not a huge deal (I fixed it myself) but I expected better quality control for not only the price I paid but the company who makes these knives. Attached are some pictures to portray what my issue was. After fixing the block, I had no issues. The knives themselves are sharp and durable. When used appropriately they should last for many years. I do appreciate the self sharpening aspect to this set. Overall I would recommend this product, perhaps I just received the one off dud.

Received these as my 25 year anniversary at G.E..Something that I could actually use and needed. Yes I agree that the block is pretty long,but it just draws the eye to it,and it looks so nice.Had used several knives already and the shears,no complaints and they are sharp.ok,I received these as a gift for 25 years of service,but still,for a 20 piece set I would expect to pay a lot more for the price listed. I can tell by just looking at them,that they'll last a long time,and the self sharpening is just an added bonus.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I normally do not splurge on something nice like this for myself. But my oh my I am very happy that I did. There is not a bad thing I can say about the knives themselves. They feel great in my hand, very sharp edges on all the different knives, look great, and very good quality. The only minor negative thing I could even say is the block is a little bigger than I expected. Having said that tho, the block is very nice as well. I love the fact that it sharpens as it goes in and out. Just too cool. I find any excuse to use any of the knives. I am not a professional cook or anything like that, I just cook for my family mainly and friends on occasion. But I have noticed that I have been trying to plan on more events to do just so I can use them and even show them off to my friends. I can continue talking about my new toys, but I will conclude my thoughts. But if anyone is thinking on maybe getting these, do yourself a solid and get them. It is a very good purchase that I am very happy that I talked myself into getting.
