This is truly a solid wood & well made desk. However, it does have two design flaws that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. 1. Where the Hutch meets the top of the desk is an opening for power & extension cords. The "opening" was about 1/2 inch too shallow for iMac cord to fit through. Had I known this, I would have laid my iMac power cord where the opening would be formed and then placed the hutch on top of the desk. Keep in mind that this opening will also be too shallow for most modern extension cords so place those at the opening also. It takes two people to lift the hutch. I was alone when I discovered this design flaw so I had to use a hand saw to make the opening larger... which was a royal pain. 2. All three shallow drawers are the same size. The "usable" space in each drawer is only 2 inches high. This is too shallow. It would be o.k. if just one drawer was this shallow...but not all three. There are everyday office tools, such as large staplers and paper clip holders that can't fit inside these drawers. That is POOR design. I am seriously considering finding a wood worker who can turn the two smaller drawers into one moderate sized drawer. Summary..... The manufacturer needs to redesign and make the "cord opening" larger....and .... they need to turn the two shallow drawers (on the right side) into one drawer. If they do, this desk will be an excellent 5 star product.

I thought I would like this desk. I was wrong. I love it. The online color is "true" and the product description is accurate. However, there is one bad design flaw. Look where the Hutch "sits" on the top of the desk. You can see there is one "opening" for cords to run-through. This "opening" is fine for standard cords, but not for "3-prong" cords or "3 prong" extension cords...which are much larger than standard cords. The power cord for my iMac would not go through this narrow opening...nor would my "Surge-Protection" extension cord. So, I had to use my little hand-saw to cut a hole large enough to accommodate them. The "back-side" of the hutch is the only part that is not solid wood...so it was fairly easy to cut a larger hole...but this was a big inconvenience and hassle. If the manufacturer would make the outlet opening about 1/2-1" wider, this desk would have received 10 stars from me.

This desk took me 48hrs to put up the hardest part was building the hutch, because you have to put the pieces together before locking them in and it’s diffcult because the puzzle pieces keep disconnecting from the frame, eventually I just gave in and glued the pieces together, which made connecting the hutch pieces much easier; I’m just kicking myself because I didn’t think to do that sooner. But overall i enjoyed the challenge of building my own desk and the end results were satisfyingly spectacular and I would jump at the chance to do it again. The desk quality is a little wavering considering its price, the door on my hutch doesn’t close, but the wood feels like good solid wood but it can crack if handled too roughly, I had to reorder pieces for just that problem. It comes with safety restraints.

I am a glutton for punishment. I bought two of theses desk. One with a hutch and the without. It takes patience to put these desk together. Approximately 2 hours each. For the hutch add three hours and get a second set of helping hands. The first desk can with a broken center draw. Waiting for replacement parts, plus one of the slide rails was put on upside down, so check that if it does not work right the first time. The other desk, the slide rails to the center draw were broken. The little plastic pieces that lock the draw into place and do not allow you to remove the draw unless pushed up or down. center draw was also broken. Waiting on these parts too. Plus, the file cabinet holes for the handle was not drilled properly. Waiting on this replacement also. The hutch, you need an engineering degree to figure out the directions. Overall, the desks seem sturdy, but to much aggravation for the price.

This hutch came in 3 separate boxes, nothing was pre-assembled, and was packaged nicely. When we went to assemble it, there are quite a few flaws and directions and pictures not provided that we did not realize until it was finished put together to include: bottom pegs had no threaded parts in the wood for the screws to screw into (we have to be very careful if we ever want to move it), the pre-drilled holes for the hutch to attach to the desk were no where to be found in the instructions, so when we went to put it on, we noticed the parts were all backwards (no right way was provided in the instructions) that needed screws for the hutch, the Philips headed screws stripped WAY to easily making it very difficult to place, and the thin pieces of wood were warped already and barely fit within their borders. Would not buy again if I didn't need a cheap desk so badly!
