This beater gently scrapes product from the sides of the bowl and returns it to the bottom. Yes, you still need to use a spatula to ensure everything is mixed but this makes it much easier. Almost every poor review states the beater doesn't fit the mixer (buy the correct one) or it chips and bags the bottom of the bowl. People, you must adjust the beater height using the set screw. Obviously, the beater won't chip on butter and flour so IT IS hitting the metal bowl. C'mon. Great product
I bought this as a gift for my daughter. She had just gotten her new mixer and was excited to use the attachment since I love mine so much. However, it doesn't fit the Artisan tilt head mixer even though it's supposed to be for that model. My old flex edge beater fits both of our Artisan mixers. Could the new beater be defective? Isn't it a standard size? It's very frustrating. I can't recommend this product since it might not fit. I love the older version.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Kitchen was help to switch my broken mixer with a new one. However, the new one I received mades a terrifying sound that I have never heard a mixer ever make when it is running. It still runnings like a normal mixer.

I must say I believe men should never buy kitchen products as birthday/Christmas gifts for their wife.......but this mixer is the exception!! I've had a Krups mixer for over 20 years and have never had an issue however, that model CANNOT compare to the Kitchen Aid. Take the plunge and get one for yourself.
