I read many reviews before purchasing the pasta press, some of which left me unsure as to whether buying it was a good idea. However, I took the plunge and am happy to report that after using it, I'm very pleased with my purchase. The press works well and it's fun and satisfying to see the pasta dough come through the dies in all the different shapes. I had a bit of an "I Love Lucy" moment when I couldn't keep up with cutting the pasta fast enough, but I got better the longer I used it. I also read many different pasta recipes before trying the press for the first time. The basic recipe that comes with the press calls for only all purpose flour. Some others I found online recommenced a 50/50 mixture of all purpose and semolina flour. Luckily for me, I have an expert consultant...my father, who worked for 50 plus years as a flour milling engineer. After consulting with him, I went with the 50/50 mixture and the result was perfect. That's not to say you can't achieve acceptable results with only all purpose flour, but using a mixture with semolina flour will give you a "sturdier" dough more suited to pasta.
Been making pasta for over 30 years with a hand crank machine, but I thought I'd give this attachment a try since Kitchen Aid makes good products and this would give me options for other styles of pasta. It barely cranks out product at all, the macaroni and fusilli were thick and cooked up like globs of flour dough. Thankfully Bed Bath & Beyond took it back, but I want to warn you not to waste your time or the earth's valuable resources.

While using my pasta attachment for the third time (no issues previously) the auger went THROUGH the top of the attachment... now its garbage. My wife was so devastated as it was a christmas present for her.

Received this for Christmas. When it works it's a great tool and very easy to clean. However, two of the press rings have already broken and I would like to order replacements. Can someone direct me to ordering replacement presses only?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never used a pasta maker before, but I have always wanted to. This thing was fun to use and actually easier than I expected it to be. I feel pretty old school making my own pasta with this now.

I've had this attachment for a long time, but only used twice. The first time, the dough had a lot of trouble going through and motor got really hot, so I stopped and didn't try again for years (out of concern). The second time, which was tonight, tried with my mom's Kitchenaid Professional model, used the basic egg pasta recipe in the booklet, was going well until almost end of dough. It jammed, so we shut off the mixer immediately. We moved the dough around a bit, then tried again. Dough started to go, then the attachment broke and started spinning! Terrified and bewildered, we shut it off, only for the attachment to fly to the floor. We discovered the METAL pin on the the attachment (the thing that lines it up to the attachment area) had broken off! The mixer and the attachment were very hot. The attachment broke completely. We are lucky no one was hurt. There is NOTHING in the manual that warns of the hot motor, hot attachment, and certainly not the potential for the pin to break. It only warns that death could happen if one doesn't follow instructions exactly. Well, we followed them to the letter and this still happened! There is also NO troubleshooting for jamming, etc. I'm beyond horrified, disappointed, and angry that Kitchenaid would sell such a dangerous item. DO NOT BUY!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this item after many years of wishing I had one. I am so glad that I did. I feel inspired to create in the kitchen after years of feeling drudgery in the kitchen. The additional attachments will come in handy as I try to move further away from processed foods. I made a wonderful apple pie and the pie crust was so easy to make and turned out great.

The spaghetti die broke the first time I used it. I tried to use the macaroni die the day before and it was so hard to clean out, Pasta was stuck between the plastic layers where you couldn't get to it at all. I was so relieved this would not happen with the 1 piece spaghetti die, but then I heard a loud pop: it had cracked from the pressure. now the plastic sticks out too far, so every time you try to cut it the cutter gets caught, causing the cutter to get all bent and messed up. Guess I have to return it.
